Simons dan Assembles at Sweet Home Statesman Nwa Serylca SWEET HOME The annual re union of the Simon family was held Sunday at Sweet Home City Park. Of the Simons clan, present "were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Simons, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Simons and Rob ert F all of Sweet Home, the Rev, and Mrs. George Simons, Elsie Si mons Smith, all of Lebanon; Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Simons, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Simons, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Wiley, all of Foster; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Simons, William Simons, Mr. and Mrs. Forest Pape, Robert and Nancy. Mr. and Mrs. John WI ley, and Mr. and Mrs. Clair Wiley and Jay, all of Portland. The Simons family were among the early settlers of Linn County It w in 1849 that Dan Simons settled on a homestead in what is now the Crowfoot community. A son. Alonzo. settled in what is now known as the Sand Ridge community. Two other sons, Charles and Edwin, came to the Sweet Home country and settled around 80 years ago. Both took an active part in community affairs. Ed Simons built a store building across the street from the Roxy theater. Here he operated a gen eral store and post office for sev eral years. This building was torn down recently to make a parking lot. Charles Simons was Sweet Home's dry marshall for 42 years. Hadley and family of Se- attlef Wash, are visiting this week with her aunt, Mrs. Leo Read. Mr. and Mrs. Homer White and familyof Granger, Wash., have been visiting at the Lloyd Lewis home. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Botsfield of Bloomington, 111., are visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Herberg G. RydelL Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Lang of Sutton, N. D.t left this week for their home after visiting here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kom. Mr. and Mrs. George Han son have returned from a trip to Mlnneota. His sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Swanson of Grand Forks, Minn., returned with them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. John Breed on and Johnny, and Gary Hantze of Mc Minnville are oo fishing trip in Canada. Mrs. Guy Stewart and Joyce and Mrs. Bud Pierce and Linda of Grand Junction, Colo., have been visiting Mr. and Mrs D. S. Watts. Many From Hopewell at Camp Meeting Statesman Nw Servlc. H O P E W E L L Attending the Seventh Day Adventist camp meet ing at Gladstone are Mrs. Amanda Ha listed, Mrs. George Sargeant, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Warnock and Stanley. Duane Carpenter and Mr, and Mrs. E. J. Terrill have been attending on weekends. Mrs. Sam Toug, Sioux Falls, 8- D , has been a guest of the Charles Compton family the past week. They were former neighbors In Minnesota. Mrs. Gust Janzen underwent major surgery at a Salem hos pital recently. She will convalesce at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Kotka, in Hubbard.
