Oregon, Thursday Tury't,' 1911 Reclamation .Projects Win Solons' Vote WASHINGTON (JP) Ten new Reclamation Bureau projects, in cluding three in the PacifioNorth west were approved by a Senate House conference committee Wed nesday. Value of the 10 projects is $14, B50.000. of which $2,350,000 would be spent in the northwest. The rec ommendations still are subject to approval of-the Senate and House. The action was seen as a victory for the Senate, which had earlier voted nearly 15 million dollars for this work after the house had re jected any funds for new construc tion. The three northwest projects were: Minidoka, north side pumping division, Idaho, $150,000. Savage Rapids Dam, Ore., $700, 000. Yakima, Kennewick Division, With 1 A million. AFL Teamster Strike Settled SEATTLE (JP) A strike of the Teamsters' Union AFL against s'x northwest wholesale grocery houses was settled Wednesday eve- rung. Union officials said they were attempting to contact team sters to have them back at work Thursday morning. The walkout started last Thurs day against Safeway Stores Inc., supply bouses and the Associated Grocers Co-Op in Seattle. It spread later to four other concerns and had hampered delivery of goods to grocery stores in the region. A union official said the settle ment included a wage increase and other benefits but he said terms would not be revealed until a for mal contract is v drawn up, prob ably Thursday. Kip Wolf er Said Slightly Improved Kip Wolfer was said by authori ties at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland to be "slightly im proved'' Wednesday night. A neighbor of the Wolfer's said she had talked to Martin Wolfer, Kip's father, and he mentioned they were feeding the lad a little jiolid food Wednesday. The boy has never completely regained consciousness since he was struck by an auto in front of his home at 3835 Monroe Ave. June 23. Spokane Pea Acreage Cut SPOKANE (JP) Many of the In land Empire's 1951 pea growers turned to wheat this year with the result that green pea acreage Is aown more tnan 50 per cent irom last year. This was reported Wednesday by Pete Stallcop, secretary of the Pa cific Northwest Pea Growers and Dealers' Association. Yellow pea acreage is down more than 30 per cent from last year, he added. He said the fact that wheat prices are supported by the gov ernment while peas are not, prob ably was a prime factor in the smaller , pea plantings this spring. Also the ideal seeding conditions for winter wheat last fall played a part, he said. Fan For All (he Family Motorcycle-Car Wreck Injures Two Teen-Agers A teen-age boy and girl were taken to Salem General Hospital Wednesday evening following a motorcycle-automobile accident at Lancaster Drive and D Street. The two riding the cycle, Milo Tibbetts, 19, of 5210 Lancaster Dr., and passenger, Audrey Roblin, 17, 5170 Lancaster Dr., were treated for minor cuts, bruises and abra sions and the girl for a laceration of the forehead. Hospital authori ties reported the pair were releas ed following treatment. Driver of the car, William Les ter Anderson, 1044 Howard St., was uninjured.
