Nuptials Held -At Ghbrch Miss Patsy Kuhn and Wayne Wolvertoo exchanged their mir riage vows at a quiet ceremony on June 3 at the First Church of the Nazarene before members of the Immediate family. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kuhn and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wolverton, all of Salem. The Rev. Eugene Stowe officiated at the 8 o'clock nuptials before a set ting of pink and white gladioluses. For her wedding the bride chose a white linen suit with white ac eessoriesand carried a white Bible topped with pink and white flowers. : ' , Mrs. Leo Wahl was her sister's matron of honor and wore a pink linen suit and carried a nosegay of pink and white flowers. Robert True stood with the groom as best man. For her : daughter's wedding. Mrs. Kuhn wore a blue and black print afternoon dress and the groom's mother wore a green suit. A reception followed the nup tials at the home of the bride's parents. After a wedding trip along the Washington and Oregon coast the newlyweds will be at home in Salem at 1065 Madison Street. Mrs. Spraur Is Grand Regent Mt. Angel The new officers of the Mt. Angel Court of the Catho lic Daughters of America were in stalled Monday night with Mrs. J. A. Kaiser of Mt. Mrs. D o r m a n Crowe, hospital chairman, and Mrs. Sherman BeaL, civil defense chairman. Mrs. Leon Hanson told about the district encampment which was held on May 23 at Woodburn. On Sunday, June 8, the National Pres ident of the Ladies Auxiliary, Mrs. Ethel Griffith, was in Portland for her official visit to Oregon. Marion Auxiliary 661 chartered a bus for this meeting with thirty attending. A surprise handkerchief shower was held for Mrs. Rennie Benson, who is leaving Salem to join her husband in Idaho, and a birthday handkerchief shower was given the president, Mrs. C. M. Briggs. Commander Barney Barnett pre sented the auxiliary with a check, proceeds from the Buddy Poppy sales to be used for rehabilitation I work. Air Gun Blamed Far Eye Loss; Seek $40,000 A $40,000 damage suit for the loss of a Stayton boy's eye, al legedly as the result at being struck by an air rifle pellet, was filed Thursday in Marion County Circuit Court. R. R. Hicks Jr. filed the suit on behalf of his son, Roger, against Kenneth and 11a M. Hansen of Stayton, claiming that Hansen's son, Chuck, fired his gun and hit the Ricks boy last Jan. 15, caus ing loss of vision. The complaint alleges mat the Hansens were negligent in permit ting their son to use the rifle and fire it within the city. Bees do not gather pollen at the same time they gather nectar. - r Many Charges Against Driver City police Thursday arrested a Salem man on four separate traf fic charges. Held in city jail was Robert Gene Gilchrist of 2143 S. Cottage St. He is charged with reckless driving, failure to transfer motor vehicle license, failure to display license plates and driving with defective brakes. He was arrested on South High Street near Bush Pasture Park. No bail had been set Thursday night. Teamsters, Hudson House Settle Dispute PORTLAND (jP) AFL Teamsters in Portland, Salem and The Dalles have been granted pay increases in negotiations with Hudson House, wholesale grocery firm. The agreement, negotiated by the Oregon Cannery Council, calls for a 3 cent hourly base pay boost with increases of 4 and 5 cents an hour in some classifications. It also provides for two weeks vacation after three years, two more paid holidays, shift differ entials of 5 and 10 cents and union dues checkoff. Some 800 workers are affected. E. S. Benjamin, Salem, council president, said Thursday the agreement is expected to set the pattern for future negotiations. In order to "warn Americans against the treachery of Russia," Juris Krigens of Salem, president of the Latvian Society, presented Gov. Douglas McKay Thursday with a book containing names of 16,000 Latvians deported to Russia in 1940-41. Krigens, who is a chemist at the Ray-O-Vac Chemical plant here, said that about 400 displaced . Stevens of Roberts said Thursday that farmers) organiza tions throughout the state are now urging circulators to return the petitions they have been filling with signatures endorsing the move for legislation to make standard time prevail in Oregon. He said 6,000 petitions are in cir culation but only 500 have been returned to the farm groups for filing with the secretary of state. Latvians live in Oregon including about 52 in Salem.
