Hayes was born at Cadillac,
Mich., Sept. 14, 1902 and came to
Oregon with his parents while still
a boy. He had been a resident of
the state since that time. For the
past 16 years he was employed
by Weyerhauser. On May 26,
1929 he was married at Vancouver,
Wash., to Helen Hayes who sur
vives. Also surviving are two daugh
ters, Ellen Cole and Lillie Wilmes
both of Aurora; sister Eunice
Uhlan of La Crescenta, Calif.; also
two grandchildren.
Interment will be in Butteville
cemetery.

Bice, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Clyde Bice of Grand Ronde, en
tered the navy last June and had
boot training in San Diego. He
graduated from the Willamina
high school, and is now stationed
in Japan.

ion County jail pending entry
of plea in Silverton justice court
to a charge of carrying a con
cealed weapon. McColly was ar
rested over the week end by Sil
verton city police officers.

summer day camp for Silverton
Brownies and Girl Scouts has been
set for July 8, 9, 10 and 15, 16 and
17, reports Mrs. Philip Clites, gen
eral chairman. The Rainbow Girls
will be asked to assist again this
year as camp aides, a work they
took care of last year for the camp
committee.

Hills Farmer in Hospital
SILVERTON John Goodnecht,
prominent farmer of the Waldo
Hills area, is at the Silverton
Hospital for treatment.
Mrs. Joseph Doerfler, who has
been at the Silverton Hospital for
several weeks following an acci
dent in which her hip was broken,
is reported as slowly gaining
strength. Mrs. Doerfler, who is
past 80, is now able to sit up part
of each day.
