Grid Threat
NEW HAVEN. Cents. (JP)
Robert A. 1111 ef Yale, chair
man of the National Collegiate
Athletic Association's Televi
sion Committee, said Sunday
that TV represents a It-million
dollar threat to college football.
Hall, who la Yale's athletic
director, said that a survey eon
ducted by the University of
Chicago's National Opinion Re
search Council shows "conclu
sively that TV has cut sub
stantially Into college football
receipts."
"If the colleges do not now
establish a principle of sharing
the receipts of televised foot
ball, a financial premium on
winning teama will be created
that will kill amateur football."
cautioned Hall.
He said that pay -as-you -see
TV would be a definite reality
in two or three years.
As Hall views It. TV set
owners win pay about a dollar
to see the game of the week
each Saturday.

Pacific Hosts
Bearcats Today
In Loop Tilt
Their second Northwest Con
ference win of the season will be
the target of Willamette's Bear
cats this afternoon as they travel
to Forest Grove for a 3 o'clock mix
with Pacific's Badgers. Coach John
Lewis' club currently has won
one and lost one in the conference.
They topped Linfield, but bowed
to Lewis and Clark here Satur
day by an 8-5 count.
In Pacific's last outing, the
Badgers bowed to Linfield. To
day's game originally was sched
uled for Tuesday.
Lewis plans to start Andy
George, the freshman from New
Jersey, against the Forest Grove
crew today. The 'Cat mentor hopes
for better defensive work after
watching ragged play cost the
Methodists the game wjth Lewis
and Clark.
One of the highlights of Bearcat
play in recent games has been the
terrific work of Cliff Girod at
second base. Some of his catches
have verged on the sensational.
Today's lineup will consist of
Alva Brown at first, Girod and
Millard Bates or Elmer Haugen
as the keystone combination, and
Dave Perlman at third. In the out
field will be Denny Elsasser, Dick
Brouwer and John Markoskie.
