Oregon, Saturday, April 19, 1952 Oregon Meet Of Episcopal Church Soon Delegates from St. Paul's Epis copal Church wilL be among those attending the 64th annual conven tion of the Episcopal Diocese of Oregon next Monday and Tuesday at Portland in Trinity Church. The delegates are Dr. Charles D. Wood, Dr. Dean Brooks, Wallace The Rt. Rev. Benjamin D. Dacwell Portland, Episcopal bishop of Oregon, will rive tLe sermon and confirm a class of 34 persons at the 11 a.m. serv ice Sunday in St. Paul's Epis copal Church. P. Carson and Carl P. Armstrong. Alternates are Charles H. Heltzel, Kenneth Sherman, Everett de Weese and " Wayne Gordon. The Rev. George H. Swift, rector also will attend. Dr. Brooks, diocesan lay leader, will direct laymen's luncheon bcth days. The convention will include election of a secretary, chancellor and treasurer for the diocese and submission of proposed constitu tional and canonical changes. St. Peter's Church, Albany, is to be admitted as a parish. O'BRIEN Catholic Talk Series Slated First of a series of public lec tures on Catholic theology will be given in Salem Tuesday night by the Rev. Thomas L. O'Brien, S.J., of the Catholic Loyola Retreat House in Portland. The lecture will begin at 8:30 p.m. in the Catholic Center and is sponsored by Knights of Colum bus, Salem Council. Father O'Brien will deliver seven succeeding lec tures here, one every two weeks. The talks are open to Catholics as well as non-Catholics in this area. There is no charge. The Seventh-day Adventist Church sent 211 new missionary appointees to overseas stations during 1951, ac cording to a report by church headquarters here. Of these, 143 were from Amer ica, and the remainder from Aus tralia, Europe and other overseas divisions. In addition 144 Adven tist missionaries who had been on furlough returned to their mission stations. Since 1902 the denomination has sent out and supported 6,848 for Pitm missionaries. The first over- seas missionary sailed in 1874 nf thP 1952 budget of $17,060,- 650 the church has designated $9,- 303,650 for overseas work. Baha'i Faith Meet Tonight Mrs. Charles Reed Bishop of Portland will be guest speaker at the Baha'i World Faith meeting at Salem YWCA at 7:30 tonight. Mrs. Bishop has presented the Baha'i peace plan at the Nobel Institute in Oslo, Norway, and has been a delegate to many interna tional conferences called for the religious and cultural unity of na- tions. Her subject is "The Coming of World Religion." The talk will be followed by a discussion period led by Frederick Laws of Oregon State College phy sics department. Academy's Choir ml At 1st Nazarene; Building Use Due The King's Choralaire Choir of Salem Academy will present a sacred concert at First Church of the Nazarene Sunday at 7:30 p.m., according to the pastor, the Rev. Eugene Stowe. Willis Reimer will direct the choir in a varied program. Several vocal and instrumental soloists and small groups also will be pre sented. The Rev. J. H. Turnidge, president of the academy, will present the work of the school. Bill Lucas is to be at the Foursquare Church Sunday evening for a special service. Lucas Is known for his work with children in the "Story Hour Gang" and with Youth for Christ.
