Miss Harris Becomes Bride of Ronald Jones at Church Rites A number of Salem people were In Portland on Saturday after poon for the lovely Easter wedding, which united in marriage Miss Barbara Jeanne Harris, daughter of Mrs. John Lewis Harris of Ta coma, and Ronald Ewart Jones Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald E. Jones of Brooks. The couple exchanged their vows at a 9 o'clock ceremony at St Michael and All Angels Church with Father George R. Turney of ficiating. The altar was banked with arrangements of Easter lilies and white tapers. Alan F. Harris of Tacoma gave his sister in marriage and for her wedding she selected a beautiful gown of white mousseline de soie fashioned with a court train. The fitted bodice was enhanced with seed pearls, a yoke of nylon net and short sleeves. She wore long matching mitts. Her French im ported illusion fingertip veil cas caded from a satin cap adorned with flowers centered with seed pearls. She carried a spring bou quet of large white daisies. Bridal Attendants Two attendants preceded the bride to the altar, Miss Dorothy Jorgenson as maid of honor and Miss Lois Galloway of Seattle, the bridesmaid. They wore identical frocks of white nylon net with lace bodices styled with three quarter length sleeves and scoop necklines. They carried bouquets of yellow daisies. Christine Harris, niece of the bride, was the flower girl and wore a gown of blush pink. Richard K. Martin of Portland stood with the groom as best man and seating the guests were Rich ard Scandling, William Poorman and Robert Bailey of Portland, cousin of the groom. For her daughter's nuptials Mrs. Harris chose a pink beige nylon chiffon gown with lace insertion on the bodice. Her corsage was of pink sweetpeas and sweetheart roses. Mrs. Jones attended her son's wedding in a mauve pink silk taffeta afternoon gown made with a spencer jacket and a vio let tulle and flower hat. Her gloves matched her gown and her shoes were violet. Pinned at the waist of her ensemble was a cluster of violet stephanotis. Reception at Hotel The newlyweds greeted their guests at a reception immediate ly after the rites at the Congress Hotel. Presiding at the coffee urns were Mrs. Anderson Cannon of Carmel, Calif., aunt of the groom, end Mrs. Nellie Mitchell of Port land. Cutting the cake were Miss Ruth Bowden and Miss Margaret Kappes. Assisting were Miss Len na Dee Loyd, Mrs. Richard K. Martin and Miss Rita Sullivan. When the couple left on their honeymoon trip to Southern Cali fornia and Nevada the new Mrs. Jones donned a navy blue suit with full skirt and fitted jacket. Her accessories were yellow. Aft er May 1 Mr. and Mrs. Jones will be at home to their friends in their newly built suburban resi dence in Ronaldo Heights. Candidates to Speak Monday All Republican candidates, who will be on the ballot for the May primary, will be, guests at the meeting of the Salem Unit, Na tional Federation of Women's Re publican Clubs on Monday after noon in the Capital Room of the Senator Hotel at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Clark McCall is president of the Unit and has invited all in terested persons, men and women, to attend this important meeting. Candidates will be Introduced and will give short talks. A group of young matrons to assist during the social hour fol lowing the meeting will be Mrs. Phillip Schramm, Mrs. Scott Fos ter, Mrs. George Hanauska and Mrs. Robert Phillips Jr. Altrusa Club Birthday Altrusa Club of Salem will meet Thursday night, April 17 at the Marion Hotel for a dinner to observe its birthday. The pro gram is in charge of Altrusa in formation committee, Mrs. Addi son Lane and Mrs. Sidney Jary. Miss Dorothy Hollingsworth of Portland will speak on the sub ject There is a Way - To Lend a Hand." Hostesses for the dinner will be Mrs. Wayne Keeney and Mrs. Effle King. The couple will live in Salem. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ranald E. Jones of Brooks and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis Harris of Tacoma. (Edris Morrison Studio). Miss Schrenk Tells Troth At Tea The home of Mr; and Mrs. Hen ry Schrenk on Park Avenue was the scene of an informal Easter tea on Saturday afternoon to an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Lois Schrenk, to Gordon . Rands of Portland. The names "Gordon and Lois," were printed on the napkins. The bride-elect, is a primary teacher in the Parkrose Schools, Portland. She attended Whitworth College in Spokane and graduated from the Oregon College of Ed ucation. Mr. Rands is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Rands of Ririe, Idaho. He is a graduate of Linfield Col lege and is affiliated with Phi Sig ma Kappa fraternity. He is now employed in the offices of Buck ler Construction Company in Port land. The wedding of the duo is plan ned for the early summer. Betrothal of Th Statman. Salem, Ofgon, Sunday. April 13, 1SSX 9 Duo Told Adding her name to the list of brides-elect is Miss Mabel Zim merman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Zimmerman of Beaver, whose engagement to Lawrence Fisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Fisher of Sublimity, is being re vealed this weekend. No date has been set for the wedding. The bride-elect is a gra duate of Salem High School and the Bible Institute of Los Ange les. She is now employed in the office of the Larmer Transfer and Storage Co. Her fiance is a gradu ate of Silverton High School and is now engaged in farming in the Victor Point area. Travelogue on Europe The evening travel study group of AAUW will meet Tuesday night at8 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Scott Samsel, 694 Wayne Drive. Assisting the hostess will be Mrs. Harold Ramson, Mrs. Kenneth Brophy, Mrs. R. E. Peterson and Miss Appelby. Mrs. Elsie Allan will speak and show slides on her recent trip to Europe.
