Bone easi ly held the lead in the series being conducted to determine represen tatives at the regional meet in Portland. Mrs. Bone in partner ship with Mrs. Edward . Both was only half a point behind Mrs. Dewey Howell and Mr. Jones. Other series leaders among the seniors include William H. Wood and Mrs. C. C. Gabriel. For the juniors Mrs. F. C. Lutz took a 9 -point lead in the series with Mrs. Stan Neuens, Ray Kemp, Sam Ramp of Brooks and Lloyd Jones following in order. Winning teams were Mrs. Lutz and Mrs. Robert A. Bams, and Mrs. W. R. Ne waiver and Mrs. Donald Dun can. Seconds went to Herbert Reddick and Donald Duncan, Lloyd Jones and Mrs. Myrtle Wat son, Dr. E. E. Boring and C. L. Newsom and Mrs. Lloyd Jones and Carroll Ford. Winners in senior tournaments were Mrs. Walter M. Cline and Mrs. W. E. Kimsey, Wesley Zell ner and Ellis H. Jones, and Wal ter M. Cline and Jack Neilsen. Three weeks remain before any of the series are finished. Speakers Slated For Mothers The monthly meeting of the Tri Y and Y-Teen Mothers' Club will be held Thursday at the YWCA. The meeting will begin at 12:30 with a dessert luncheon as an nounced by Mrs. Roy Lpckenour, club president. Speakers will be Mrs. Harry Fontaine, health teach er at Salem High School,; and PFC Curnmings of the WAC. Special guests will be the ad visers of the Tri-Y and Y-Teen Clubs. The program for future meetings has already been planned and will include Miss Ursula Gleaser, scholar from Austria, and Frank Neer. member of the Salem High School faculty. Mrs. Austin Wilson, captain of the ritual team, was assisted by other members of the Past President's Club, includ ing Mrs. Leon Brown, installing officer; Mrs. Earl Andresen, 1st vice-president; Mrs. O. E. Palma teer, 2nd vice-president; Mrs. Frank Marshall, junior past-president; Mrs. Jennie Bartlett, chap lain; Mrs. A. M. Johnson, musi cian; Mrs. Mem Pearce, sergeant-at-arms; Mrs. W. W. Reports Given During the business session re ports given included: Mrs. John Wood, membership chairman, an nounced that 16 more members are needed to make a quota of 445; Mrs. O. E. Palraateer outlined plans for Poppy Poster Contest; Child Welfare committee is mak ing clothing and bedding for needy veteran's families; Rehabi litation committee has several projects underway for both the Portland and the Roseburg Vet eran's Hospitals. Mrs. Frank Mar shall reported on legislative mat ters and Mrs. James Turn bull presented for the action of the unit, amendments to the constitu tion and by-laws. Mrs. Michael Castellano, Americanism Chair man, announced her plans for the annual February Americanism and Flag Code contest in the schools. Mrs. Malcolm Cameron was awarded her 30 year pin as a tribute to her thirty years of ac tive service in the American Le gion Auxiliary. She was, at 17, the youngest auxiliary president in the United States. During the social hour Mrs. Merle Travis and Mrs. Glenn Holman poured. Mr. Porter Speaks To Mothers The Mother's Club of Washing ton School held its regular meet ing at the school with 61 present. George Porter, director of the Sa lem Adult Education program, was the guest speaker. Music was fur nished by Rudolph Sherwood's 4th grade room. During the meeting the mothers voted to have a no-host dinner in February. Plans were completed for the paper drive which will be Saturday, Jan. 26 and plans were made for the rummage sale to be held in March. Hostesses were the mothers of Mrs. Anna Martin's 4th grade room. Mrs. Leroy Isham was in charge and assisting were Mrs. Gordon Johnson and Mrs. Halbert Kemper. To Install, Initiate Joint initiation and installation of officers of Salem Court, Inde pendent Order of Foresters will take place at the VFW hall on Saturday night at 8 o'clock. Pre ceding the initiation there will bo a program and the installation will follow. There will be movies for the children and guests dur ing the initiation. Members of the high court from Portland will be present to assist with the initia tion and installation. Mrs. Clem Ohlsen gave the report for the month of January. Appointments made included Mrs. Roy Pease on the Women's Coun cil meeting. Mrs. Victor Koop, good of the order chairman, and Mrs. Virgil Parker, past good of the order chairman, and other mem bers took part in honoring the new members of the past six months.
