Te Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Ai ken go ieikitations on the birth of their first child, a little girl. Aim Louise, on Saturday, Oec. 29 at the Salem Memorial Hospital. Her grandparents are Mrs. George K. Aiken and air. and Mrs. James P. Lannon of SaanemLn, 111. Mrs. Lannon arrived last week from the Past to greet her new granddaugh ter. New Tear's gvesis ml Mr. urnd Mrs. Chester Olson are her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard J. Bluhm, and Mr. and Mrs. Max Landon of Sweet Home. They were here for the Tillicum club New Year's Ee dance at the Marion Hotel and preceding the Olsons entertained for the pleas ure of their guests and a few friends. Aletha Story, Mr. Sheets Engaged Miss Aletha Story and Jim Sheets revealed their engagement to a group of relatives and friends on Saturday night at a party at the Story home for thirty guests. The Rev. William S. Deal read the announcement, after which he of feted a prayer for the duo. The couple then sang "Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us." Mrs. Clark Sutter decorated a cake in the traditional Christmas red and gitm colors, which was presented to! the group. In the center were jwo large hearts with the names of the engaged couple. Miss Story is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Vernon Story, who is pactoriog the Pilgrim Holiness Church of th city. She attended Salem Christian Academy for two years and was active in musical work. Mr. Sheets is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sheets uf Redondo Beach, California. Both young people are attending the Pilgrim Bible School in El M-nte, Califor nia. The bride-elect is finishing her senior year in high school and her fiance is in the first year of a ministerial course. No date for the wedding' hs been set. Many Guests at Town Club Dance A large group of guests attended the Town Club's New Year's Eve dinner dance at the Senator Hotel Hal Moffett and his orchestra played for dancing. Friesea-MeAlIMer The engagement of Miss Mar jorie McAllister, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L D. McAllister, to Clifford Frieren, son of Mrs. Marie Friesen, has been announced. The news was first told on Christmas Day at a family dinner. Miss McAllister is a Salem High School senior and her fiance is a graduate of the Salem Academy. Cel. and Mrs. PaiUtst Alltsee were hests for a family dinner on Sunday at their Fairmount Hill home for Mr. and Mrs. John Y. Lansing and son, John, who was celebrating his fifth birthday. Mrs. Edward Schlesser and Ogden Schlesser. all of Portland. Two more brides-elect have an nounced their betrothals and add ed their Dames to the ever-crowing list of engaged duos. Mrs. Sam Rutherford Is reveal ing the betrothal of her daughter, Miss Janet Kufnef, to John Rex, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rex. No date has been set for the wed ding.
