Roberts, chief coun sel of the Oregon state tax com mission, will speak at a tax forum of the Oregon Association of Pub lic Accounta ts in the Senator ho tel Friday night. Five mid-Willamette valley men, all veterans of combat in the Kor ean war, were aboard the two troop transports arriving in San Francisco Monday. Arriving home on rotation were Cpl. Lawrence Adair and Pfc. Gene H. Hill, both of Lebanon; Sgt. Ray Calhoon and MSgt Frank E. Korn. both of Sweet Home; and PFC Marvin Becken, 505 Jefferson st., Silverton. Gov. McKay's Schedule of Banquets Full Gov. Douglas McKay has a busy week ahead of him, with banquet appearances at S sm, Portland and Pendleton. Following Monday's annual din ner in Portland of the Oregon Au tomobile Dealers association, he is to be in Portland again today for 4he banquet of the Oregon Sav ings and Loan league. He will attend the Portland Re serve Officers association dinner arid ball in Portland Friday. On Friday afternoon, he will ad dress a joint meeting in Portland of the State Sheriffs and District Attorneys associations. He will be in Pendleton Satur day night to speak before the east ern Oregon Wheat league. Governor McKay will meet in Portland Wednesday afternoon with his state committee on civil defense, and will attend the Ore gon Wool Growers luncheon in Portland Wednesday noon. He also will dine out Thursday night, attending a banquet in Sa lem for several German students under sponsorship of the Univer sity of Oregon Journalism school. Hop Broker Suit Settled PORTLAND, Dec. 3 -JP)- The department of agriculture today reported an out-of-court settle ment for $10,000 of its civil dam age suit against Robert M. Bishop, Salem hop broker. W. J. Broadhead said the mat ter had been negotiated between Bishop's attorney and the U.S. attorney here. Broadhead, marketing represen tative for the department of agri culture here, said the government would drop the suit it filed in Oc tober, 1950, seeking treble dam ages from Bishop on .the ground he bought nearly 20,000 pounds of surplus hops in California without marketing certificates. Plans for the annual children's Christmas party, scheduled for De cember 17 meeting, were an nounced. The annual campaign for "Gifts for Yanks That Gave" was inaugurated at the meeting.
