November 2L 1SS1 Programs Slated Sunday Building PIan,i Radio Work on Calvary Slate Two special services Sunday will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Enjlewood ' Evangelical United Brethren church, according to plans announced by the Rev. Lloyd Uecker, pastor. ' The . 11 ajn. worship service will include an address by the Rev. Walter Hines of Portland, super intendent of .the church's Oregon conference; history of the church presented by James Byers; tribute by the Rev. R. C Mann, former pastor; "How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings' sung by Mrs. Robert Howe, and the anthem, "How Manifold Are Thy Works" by the choir. . The morning program also win honor five "near charter members" who joined the church in 1906 Mrs. Carrie Lindsay, Mr. and Mrsl Harry Rowe and Mrs Hannah Yarn 11, all of Salem, and Mrs. J. F. Mollencop of Portland. . The anniversary service will be at 3 pjn, featuring an address by Bishop Ira D. Warner of Puente, Calif, who in 1931 laid the corner atone of the present church build ing at 17th and Nebraska streets. Other speakers will include the Rev. Wilmer Brown, pastor of Sa lem Tint EUB church; Dr. Brooks Moore, president of Salem Minis terial association, and Mayor Al fred W. Loucks. 1 Afternoon music will be the con gregation's theme hymn, "The Church's One Foundation," by the choir; "O Lord Most Holy" sung by Clifford Vorni of Portland , A reception in the church parlor wiU follow the service. All the pro grams are open to the public. The church had its beginning Nov. 28 1901, in tent meetings on Marion street. Kingwood Sets Missionaries At 3 Services The Rev.' John A. Dyck, mission ary to . Colombia, will be . the spe cial speaker at the Thanksgiving missionary festival services Sun day at Kingwood Bible church, the Rev. Alex H. Sauerwein,-pastor, announced. Mr. and Mrs. Dyck and their three children are home on fur lough from missionary work. They will tell of their experiences at the services at 10:45 a.m. and 2 and 7 p.m. The .young people's groups will meet with the eve ning service to see 'pictures shown by Dyck of the missionary work. All. members and friends at tending the services on Sunday , are invited to the church festival dinner at 12:30, being prepared by a committee consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Goertzen, Mr. and Mrs. P. As camouflage men came in overalls and jackets and women came in kitchen working appareL The nohost dinner to be served by the workers turned out to be a birthday dinner with a hugt birthday cake. More than 90 men, women and children appeared to honor the pastor. j Miss Thelma Moss was master of ceremonies.! The program in cluded a phony radio program, Mrs. Lou Reed's solo,! Dr. Brooks H. Moore, pastor. wiu preach Sunday morning after a month's absence. First he was at Dallas. Tex., for a meeting of Methodist workers with college students campus pastors and Wesley Foundation directors to plan for strengthening the church program with students. Then came a week end at Gibs- land, La., near Shreveport, where he attended a family reunion and preached at the Gibsland Metho dist church, where his mother was raised. He also was at the home of Dr. George Pomeroy, who re- cently left the Salem church as a medical missionary to India. - For the two weeks ending last Sunday. Dr. Moore was guest minister at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Arcadia, Calif, as Methodists of the Los Angeles area conducted a United Evan gelistic advance with guest leaders from over the country. . He was accompanied on the trip by Mrs. Moore and by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. can L. Thompson oi Buhl, Idaho. Sunday morning will see recep tion of some 15 members. Friday at 6:30 p.m. will be an all-church covered - dish dinner honoring more than 100 persons who have joined the church in the past six months. Dr. Waldo C, ZeUer, lay leader, will be toast master, and Gloria Nandie of Wil lamette university is arranging musical numbers. Both staff and the new members will be intro duced.
