NCAA Shapes Video Program Ruling Body Readys Setup for Next Fall CHICAGO, July -VPhThe Na tional Collegiate Athletic associa tion today began laying ground work for televising college football tames this fall. The television committee of the NCAA, headed by Tom Hamilton, director of ath letics at the University of Pitts burgh, discussed the situation with representatives of four advertis ing agencies who appeared in be half of potential sponsors. Murray Appears , Francis Murray, director of ath letics at the University of Penn sylvania, which has been declared not in good standing by the NCAA, also appeared before the committee at his own request. Pennsylvania's decision to tele vise its home games in defiance of the NCAA's policy, ted to the not-ln-good standing ruling. Chairman Hamilton explained that televisiton contracts will be negotiated by lndividaul universi ties, but each market district, un der the committee's plan, win have three of 10 Saturdays when no home game will be televised. Each market district, he said, will be limited to one TV game on the remaining seven dates and In dividual institutions are limited to one appearance at home and one away from home. Video Not Kesjaired The rune-man television com mittee wil not participate in the selection af games and no univer sity is required to televise, Hanul ton said. He added the committee would recommend to the NCAA council that a share of the receipts of televised games be paid the NCAA to help pay the cost of the survey to determine the effect of television on attendance. - .
