The program was an nounced Friday by DK Arthur H. Maynard, chairman of the Willam ette -committee on -arrangements. - - -- .w.:v... ff,-i;..'-- More than 300 official delegates from 151 churches are expected f or the meeting, last held In Salem in 1945. At the close will be an nounced pastoral appointments ior the coming year. Climax of the conference will be the Sunday morning service in the campus gymnasium, for which many Salem area Methodist churches will cancel their services that day. Music will be by massed choirs from Salem's four churches, Independence, : Dallas, Silverton, McMinnville and others, directed by Dean Melvin H. Geist of Salem. Sermon will be given by Bishop Gerald H. Kennedy of the Port land area, who will preside over the conference. - - ." '- , : Evening services- during the week will be addressed by J. Rich ard Sneed, pastor of First Metho dist church, Lus Angeles. They will be at First Methodist church. Whether any pastoral changes will be made here is not known, but Dr. Roy A. Fedje of Salem and the Rev. Oliver J. Gill of Forest Grove, both districts superintend ents for the past six years, are due to return to preaching assignments. Other features of the program will include devotional and bus iness sessions each day, open house on Wednesday at the Methodist Old People's home, teas and din ners by various groups. Saturday will be Youth day with statewide youth meetings and a banquet. A highlight of the day will be ordination of new minis ters, -o- Delegates will have lodging and meals in campus dormitories. The program committee includes Pres. G. Herbert Smith of Willam ette. Pastor Brooks Moore of Salem First church, Dr. Dan Walker of Corvallis church. Dr. Fedje and Lloyd Gilson of Lebanon, confer ence lay leader. Calvary Baptist Youth to Assist Youth week at Calvary Baptist church will begin Sunday; when a number of young men will assist the pastor, Omar N, Barth, in the morning service. Barth will speak on "What the Church Offers a Young Person." In the evening the Youth council will be in charge of the program! with Warren Miller, Rita Wanner ! and Mrs. Carroll Graber speaking. Gilbert B. Christian. S f The board'of directors this week called upon! churches of all de nominations in fvery community in the state to share in sending food and used clothing to Korea; at the earliest possible date. ; Good used clothing and: shoes for children 5 to 12 years of age is to be sent through United Church Overseas Relief, 1746 Fourth ave nue South, Seattle. . The ground will be broken with a gilded shovel presented recently to Dr. Lloyd T. Anderson on his fifth anniversary as pastor. Par ticipants will include Mayor A. W. Loucks, former mayor R. L. ELf- strom. President Oral W. Clemens of Salem Ministerial ' association and church officers. At the close of the evening ser vice, Anderson and his family will leave for Buffalo. N. Thorn Hunter of Eu gene will preach at both morning services. Hunter is university pas tor in charge of the Presbyterian student work on University i of Oregon campus. After his gradu ation from McCormick Theological seminary in Chicago he served as a chaplain in the army air force. Dr. Chester W. Hamblin, pastor, is attending the meeting of the church general assembly at Cin cinnati, to return at the end of next week. Wieman Talks Here Sunday ; Guest speaker at the meeting of Salem Unitarian fellowship in the Grill room of the Marion hotel at 8 p.m. Sunday wiU be Dr. Henry N. Wieman, professor of philos ophy at University of Oregon and a member of the Eugene church. His topic will be "An Adequate Philosophy for This Era." A graduate of Park college, he received his doctor's degree from Harvard university and holds honorary degrees from Occidental and Park colleges. He also has studied at the Universities of Jena and Heidelberg. Wieman has been named dean of the Institute of International Rela tions in Seattle from June 17 to 24 under the auspices of the American Friends Service committee. Churct Dedication Set By Episcopate ' : Statesman Kews Servic - ALBANY, May 23 The Rev. Benjamin DagwelL bishop of Ore gon, -will conduct dedicatory ser vices for the newly acquired St Peter's Episcopal church on Queen avenue, Sunday morning .at 11 o'clock. . ' In the afternoon Bishop Dagwell will conduct similar services at St Martin's church in Lebanon. The Rev. James Klngsley will assist in the services as vicar of both churches. . The first St Peter! church in Albany was erected in 1873, al though services were held as early as June 29. 1853. with the Rev. Joseph McCarthy in charge. The 1853. building recently has been used as a social halL ; The first resident Vicar was the Rev. Robert L Stevens, from 1876 to 1880. In 1918 the church lapsed until 1830. - Two months ago the church members decided to buy the Mis sion Covenant church, built in 1949. The old church was sold to the Latter Dajr Saints. Northwest district convention of the American Lutheran church will be June 4-8 at Pacific Luth eran college campus, Parkland, Wash. They held meetings with Mar ilyn Stettlers, Joyce Stoops, with their leader, Mrs. , Ben Rathjen. Demonstrations on planting of seeds and preparing flats for plant ing with proper soil mixtures were liven" by Georgia Fate. Car la Hen derson and Joan Marsh demon strated the transplanting of seed Cats to plant bands. The group made corsages and assisted in dec orating the halls for achievement night at Washington school. They also made corsages for the out going and new officers of Lansing Neighbors home extension unit. They were presented by the Lan sing Neighbors home extension unit with demonstration buttons, club pins for their offlcerf a 4-H pennant to be used at exhibits, a gavel with the 4-H emblem, a 4-H song book and a corsage kit for each member. The group plans to meet regulrrly through the sum mer as their projects will be ready for the fall show, with the next meeting scheduled for June 4.
