April 24 (Special) Pitcher Dick Weaver of the Eu gene Axemen walked across two runs in the seventh inning today to give the Salem high Vikings a 8-4 victory in a Big Six league tilt. The win was the second for the Viks in three loop outings. Sophomore Lowell Pearce hurl ed the route for Salem, giving up five blows, one of them a fourth Inning-homer by Cuthbert with the bags empty. Salem , picked up six hits. Gene triple and single.' Elmer Haugen Jones leading the way with a collected two singles. Weaver walked four men and hit a batsman in. giving Salem it clinching, runs; Next league action for the Viks comes Friday in a 1:30 double header -at Springfield. . April 24 -4Jff- The famed Deschutes river will be open to fishing Saturday, but part of it will be closed to whites under a Warm Spring's tribal council order. The Indian service here reported today it had word of the closure, bnt few details. The closed area will be on the west bank on the reservation side. It extends about 50 miles but some of the distance is inaccessible anyway. The coastal streams were opened to trout fishermen April 14. The southern central and eastern sec tions open this coming- Saturday. Exceptions are the Lake i county whose waters are closed until May 20, and most of the high lakes of central Oregon. However, Snttle.
