SUtesjnn Woman's Editor a , It seems that most women's organizations, no matter what their original object may be, finally get around to a money raising project. It's a well known fact that If you want some money for church or patriotic use, take it to the women. ' i lL. - ' A custom In the eld days amonr Ladies Aids and Woman's clubs was collecting favorite recipes into s cookbook, many of which remain as the chief culinary literature in homes of, mem bers or their daughters. I . : Newesct acquistition to our own library is a book .called "Your Neighbors Recipes' compiled by the ladies of the Spring Valley Home Mission society and put together in mimeographed sheets. Sale of books will finance their projects. il ' Not neglecting Chamber of Commerce 'data for the Zena com munity, in which the Spirit Valley Home . Missionary society lad ies live, the foreward tells the readers that "Beautiful Spring Val ley is situated on the west slope of the Eola Hills about eight miles northwest of Salem. The scene comprising the evergreen timber, dairy farms, orchards, grain fields, creeks and 'grazing sheep is dominated by the historical Zena church, nearly a centu ry old, set on a hillside. The landscape Is dotted with pictures- . que old mansions built by the pioneers and their sons at a tiny when prosperity and large families abounded in the land. Having a very warm spot in my heart for the Eola Hills and especially that rolling land that Is Folk county and from which my own "Rollins Hills Farm" Is named alone would make me an immediate believer In the excellence of the recipes. Many of the dishes have served at meetings of the Missionary society, so a large proportion are desserts but what : woman doesn't revel in preparing party desserts or fancy breads. Picnic spice cake, cherry cake, chocolate yeast cake, jam cake are in triguing titles.
