Smith was elected president of the Hub .bnl Parent-Teachers association Monday. Smith is assistant super intendent at Woodburn , Boys school. .Other officers: Pi Hostettler, tim president; Mrs. John Waite, second vice president; Russell Rol jolson, secretary; Mrs. Don Reed, treasurer; and Mrs. Warren. Grim, historian. Officers will be install ed May 21 by Mrs. Ben Miller.. Appointed to the auditing com mittee by Mrs. Al Barendse, presi denV were Mrs. Fern Foster and Mrs. Ernest Rose. A report on the - grade school concert and box so cial was made. The program included a solo by Robin Berkey, accompanied at the piano by Suzanne DeArmand. Jo McNary and Leona Riddle of the Flying Needles 4-H club demon strated "mitering. a corner." Refreshments were served" by the Chefs cooking 4-H club. Mrs. Robert Aldrich is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schei and brother, Darrell, while her husband is attending army school in Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Ross of Col ton were honored on - their 25th wedding anniversary SundajTwith dinner at the Bert Jeskeys home. Eckstrom operated a crasher above here about 10 years ago. They lived in the Downing Creek area. Mr. and Mrs. Fred : Westerberg and son, George, are staying at their summer home . about two miles east of here on the Santiam river. They are preparing it ; for summer use and also taking out ships spars on Marion creek. Mr. and Mrs. George Hobart of Klamath Falls spent the week end in the cabins. They enjoyed fish ing in the Santiam and Marion creek. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young re cently made a business trip to Portland. They visited the Paul Kings who have a summer home here. ' - " . ,;,-. Visiting at the lodge last ! week were Mrs. - Anna Jenkins of Mill City and Mrs. . Carl Knutsen and Mrs. O. Neistrom of Nigara. ,They also visited the new hatchery here. Mr. and Mrs. Vera Morgan are vacationing. jWord has been re ceived ' they j spent some time at Sun Valley, Idaho. . Mrs. Veola Farmer of Woodburn is cooking at the lodge. She is sister-in-law of Mrs. Alf ord Hosel- Um of Santiam Junction. 4 . ' 3 Mr. and Mrs. Scott Young have returned ihome after a month trip to "the .Grand Canyon, petrified forests of Arizona, Carlsbad Cav erns New Mexico and Mexico. -Marion Creek road has been plowed out " and graded for one mile so that cedar can be cut for the Idanha Shingle Mill. The fill ers will commence work soon. . Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weddle and party of Jefferson spent a short time visitin?, with; friends Sunday afternoon. 4 Mr. and Mrs. Orval Greer of the Marion Forks Hatchery spent , the week end at Tillamook. - : Ed Hankins of the Marion Forks hatchery j spent' the week end "at his home in Corvallis, Oregon.
