Musician's Life Dangerous NEW YORK (INS) Cellist Ed mund Kurtz is all for making con cert tours despite the fact that on occasion these trips can be very hazardous. The world famous musician, who's traveled everywhere in his career, says: "Aside from risking your neck in airplanes, trains, buses and tax icabs -there is also the worry about catching pneumonia, what with playing in polar regions one day and in equatorial climate the next. "There is also the constant wor ry about the care of the cello to prevent its wood from cracking through ' excessive heat, cold, dampness or dryness." Kurtz detailed some of the haz ards of his touring. The engine of his plane conked out over Java; fog necessitated a belly-landing by his plane In Oslo, Norway and his train was derailed in Australia. "And after all this," moans Kurtz, "one still has to worry about the music critics." U. S. He said: "On opening the abdomen, I felt what appeared to be a hard rubber tube. I gently inserted a. finger and encountered what 1 I first thought was a pair of forceps. "It proved, however, to be a five inch wrench as used on bicycles. Exploring further I caught the end of a tension spring, thic-o inches long and half an inch in diameter. The lower end of the spring when withdrawn pulled cut with it a three and one half inch steel twist drill and a five inch long bicycle wheel axle. "Some hours afterwards,- the patient remarked 'I am afraid there is still a bit of a hacksaw blade there yet,' so we fed him cotton-wool sandwiches and tho blade was passed naturally after a few hours."
