Brown, jr., 18, of 2398 N. Front sL
' Police said autos driven by the
two collided at Broadway and
Fine streets about 1:15 ajn. Cow
en's car, smashed on the right side,
rolled onto the lawn of a residen
tial lot. The accident dazed both
drivers.
Cowen crawled from his car
'and was taken to Salem Memorial
hospital. He suffered - fractured
ribs and possible internal Injuries.
His condition Friday night was
termed 'fairly good."
M Officers said Brown was taken
to a friend's house by an acquain
tance who was following in anoth
er car. He later was removed to
Salem General hospital where his
condition was termed "good.' He
incurred cuts and bruises.
Police said no charges were
filed.
Army to Call Up All
Graduates in ROTC
WASHINGTON, March 23-VPh
The army announced today it will
call into active service about 10,
.000 reserve officer training corps
students who will graduate from
colleges this summer.
The announcement said the or
der affected all students who have
been enrolled in the senior ROTC
program and that all would be
commissioned during July, August
and September.

in secret for four hours today for
what was called an informal ex
change of views. An official west
ern source said "very little, if
anything,' was accomplished." A
deadlock has long been evident.

their chiefs, decided to resume
open meetings tomorrow.
