Old: Modern The Eugene Gleemen,; 25-year old singing group of business men, wl be brought to Salem high school auditorium by the Rotary club next Wednesday. The Glee men come without charge, and funos from the concert are to be used . for Rotary scholarship to WilKmette university. Tickets are being sold by Rotary club mem bers and at the door Wednesday night . . Charles Barclay is general chairman, W. I Williams is ticket chairman and Jason Lee, Hugh Morrow and Charles Ogle, pub licity. Dr. Theodore Kratt directs the Eugene Gleemen, and Stacey Creen is accompanist. The organ ization, made up of amateur and a few professional singers, was begun 23 years ago j by a small group of men Interested in sing ing. Four of the charter members are still singing with the chorus. The program includes classical, folk and modern music, arranged by tl well known choral direct ors " ' ? ' One of the featured numbers will be a Suite for Four Trom bones played by Ira P. 'Lee, Fred Lewis, Alan Anderson and John Kienzle. : ! White, president of the club. The affair will honor the prin cipal and teachers of the school and all mothers and friends inter ested in the school are invited to call between 3 and 5 o'clock. Birthday Banquet Of Interest The 92nd anniversary of Oregon statehood will be celebrated with a birthday banquet at the Portland hotel Wednesday, February 14, at f:30 pm. under the auspices of the Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers. Governor Douglas McKay and Mayor Dorothy McCullough Lee will be among the honor guests. Tha address of the evening will be delivered by Dr. Burt Brown Barker, who will report on his discoveries while exploring the archives of the Hudson Bay- com pany in London last year. Now wearing a diamond on her third finger, left hand is Miss Lola Koerner, daughter of Mr- and Mrs. John W. Koerner, whose engage ment to Berwm Francis Murray, son of Mrs. Denise Murray of Mon mouth, formerly of Salem, is be ing announced this weekend. The wedding is planned for the early summer. The bride-elect is a graduate of Salem schools and is employed at the unemployment compensation commission. Her fiance attended Willamette university and his fra ternity is Phi Delta Theta.
