The concert is lor members of the association. Violinist Renardy to Play Here First concert in Salem for the new year will be that of Ossy Renardy, Internationally known violinist, who comes on the Com munity concert series Thursday, January 18, to Salem high school. Admission is by membership ticket only. Born in Vienna, Ossy Renardy's talents were discovered when he was only five, and when he came to the United States in 1937, his fame was already established in Europe. During the war he served in the US. army for four years and played some 400 concerts for GIs besides concerts for the Red Cross and in the interest of War Bonds. He has appeared as soloist with the symphonies of Boston, Chica go, Amsterdam, Houston, Roches ter and with the New York Philharmonic-symphony. The past two summers Renardy has toured the Scandinavian countries. Renardy is the owner of one of the most fabulous of violins, the "Cannon Joseph" by Guarnieri de Gesu made in 1743. It is said to have belonged to Paganini and is valued at over $50,000. He will play the music of Han del, Mozart, Paganini, Schubert, Dvorak, Kreisler and Chaminade. Marion Forks Robert Young of Marion Forks and Miss Flo Retta Iverson of Gooding, Idaho, were married December 29, in Elko, Nev., and on their return from a wedding trip to California will make their home at Marion Forks. The American War Mothers will hold a business and social meet ing Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. A. Lee, 1515 State street, at 1:30 o'clock. The United Commercial Travel ers auxiliary will meet for a one o'clock lungheon on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. R. F. Lockard, 2045 Maple avenue. Her parents were injured Decem ber 26 on their way to see their daughter in a McMinnville hos pital, and Mrs. Suhs is still in the hospital with a fractured leg. New ton, Willamlna chairman for the March of Dimes, has stated that the drive will begin here Monday, Jan. 15. She will be assisted by Aon Call and Edna Dundas. The local Civic club is sponsoring the drive this year. Special fund rais ing events have been planned with a Tun Night" scheduled for Wednesday evening, Jan. SI. A house to house drive and a solici tation of the business district will be held, Mrs. Newton stated . SHERIDAN The March of Dimes drive will start Monday in Sheridan with Francis G. Bradley heading the 1951 drive. Chairmen for Sheridan will be: organiza tions. Dean Holmes; finance, B. C S wails; city and rural collections, Wayne Flynn; coin boxes, Henry Fast; schools, Joseph K. David Steiner was chosen as reporter. Members will be asked to pay five cents when they are out of order during a business meeting. For a special project members will work to keep the school grounds clean. David Steiner played a piano solo and games were played.
