Marquam Meeting For Thursday MARQUAM At the Butte Creek- school auditorium Thurs day at S pjn, Charlie Lucht will show pictures and talk on his trip to England. Harold Olsen has returned to Newport after visiting his mother, Mrs. Gladys Olsen and his family. PTA women have canned 318 gallons of fruit and vegetables for the school. Mrs. George Gensen and her mo ther, Mrs. Laura McCracken, West- port, spent a few days In Molalla visiting mends and relatives. A benefit card party sponsored by the PTA group -will be given October 28 at 8 pjn. in the Butte Creek school auditorium. Dowe BROOKS Funeral services ior Fred John Dowe, 78, were held at the chapel of the Weddle funeral home in Stayton, Sept. 25, at 2 pjn. Rev. Nick Neufeldt fcfficiated. Burial is the Lone Oak cemetery near Stayton. Dowe suffered a stroke and passed away at a Salem hospital Sept. 22. He' was born In She boygan county, Wisconsin, Sept. 16, 1872. Was married to Maude Sears, who died two years ago. He had been a resident in and -near Brooks for over forty years. allowing the death of his wife he moved to Stayton. Survivors are two sons, Lester ) Dowe of Aumsville, Charles Dowe of : Albany; one - daughter, Mrs. Hazel Lavett of Seaside, Califor nia, one son preceded him in death; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Edrar F. Smith SWEET HOME Funeral ser vices were held at Portland Tues day, conducted by Revi Howard Smith, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Lebanon, for. Edgar F. Smith. 80, who died at his home here Sunday. He i survived by a niece, Dr. Ruth Barnett, Portland, and a sister .in New York. - Edpar F. Smith came to the Sweet Home community around 20 , years ago and built a sawmill on the old O'iver McClure ranch on Ames creek. Later he was as sociated with Bert Smith in a sawmill east of Cascadia. Since retiring from the sawmill busi ness he had made his home here. William James Standlxh SWEET HOME Funeral ser- i vices were held here at the Howe Huston chaDel Monday , afternoon at 2 o'clock for William James Standish. 60, who died at his home here Friday. The Rev. Sam Kimball officiated. Interment was made in the Union cemetery at Crawfordsville. Standish was. born in Browns ville August 4, 1890 where he resided until coming to Holley more than 30 years ago where he engaged in farming until moving to Sweet Home six years - ago where he had since resided. He was -united in marriage with Dona Rice, daughter of Mr." and Mrs. Homer Rice, August 28 1917. Surviving, are the wife; a daughter, Mrs. Hilda Myers, Port land; a sister, Mrs. , Catherine Lyons, ; Seattle, and a grandson. Albert Martin Jacobson SWEET HOME Funeral ser vices were held Wednesday, con ducted by Rev. Harry Benton, Eugene, pastor of the First Chris tian church there, for Albert Martin ; Jacobson. 52, who died while on a hunting trip on the upper Calapooia east of Holley. Sunday; Jacobson was born at - Alsea. Ore, Dec. 31, 1897. He had lived In the Holley area for the past nine vears and was employed by the Gilbert-Eaton Logging com - pany. , . . , , . Survivors are his wife, Laura, of Holley; a son, Luther; four ' daughters, Mrs. Peg Smith, Mary, Betty and Philena, all of Ashland, and a step-son. King Hufford. Holley. Three brothers, Carl and Lewis Jacobson, Alsea, and E. L. Jacobson, Shelton, Wash, and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Williams f Idaho, and Mrs. Mary Pope, Jewell, also survive. - - . .
