Rawlinson of Portland has purchased the Capital City laun dry and cleaners, 1264 Broadway at, he reported Wednesday. Rawlinson bought the plant xrom me estate ox Thomas A. Windishar, who died recently, and from Rudolph Windishar of Mc- Minnvule and van Weider of Sa lem. The Windishars have oper ated the laundry since 1920. He operated bis own laun- Tbcyll Do It Evciy.Timei thurch Union Appeal Slated By Dr. Jones The appeal for a federal union of American churches will be pre sented in Salem Sunday afternoon by Dr. E. Stanley Jones, famed mi ionary who has led the cru sade for three years, s The public meeting will be at S o'clock in the senior high school auditorium. Dr. Jones will come here from CorvaUis, where he is to speak Sunday morning, and will leave after the meeting for Portland, to peak in the civic auditorium at 8 p. m. Sunday. The Oregon Coun cil of Churches is sponsoring his several talks in the state. The proposal of the Crusade for a United Church calls7 for a single church, with Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist and other branches. These are compared to states un der the federal government. Youth Given on Curfew, Bikes Salem's youth sot a double-bar reled warning from city police Wednesday to observe the curfew and not ride bicycles on sidewalks. Police Chief Clyde A. Warren ordered patrolmen to be alert for violators of either dry ordinance. Youngsters 16 and 17 may legally be out in public alone until midnight any time. The curfew ordinance specifies fines up to $250 for parents of guardians of children who vio late it Barkley Asked To Salem Rally State Treasurer Walter J. Pear son Wednesday sent a letter to Vice-President Alben W. Barkley, urging him to attend and speak at a democratic rally to be held in the Salem armory October 13. The democrats in Oregon have made wonderful progress In, the last two years and while Oregon Is still considered to be a republi can stronghold we are all doing everything possible to turn the tide, Pearson advised the vice president in his letter. The rally, Pearson said, would honor democratic nominees for the legislature, governorship and for other offices.
