Key stocks moved up a few cents to around $2 share. Around 63 touched new highs lor 1950. Measured by th Associated Press average of 60 stocks, the market for the first time closed above the level at which prices stood just before the Korean war -and was a mere trifle .below a four-year peak. Final quotations were tops for "the session. .- Trading was again omparative ly skimpy. Sales of 1,570,000 shares : compared with 1,550,000 Tuesday. ;: The Associated Press average of 60 stocks advanced .4 of one point to 79.5, a top since June 13. The i industrial group made the largest contribution to the rise, followed by rails and utilities. : The close of 79.5 today com' pared with a 1950 top of 80J which in turn is the highest level ' reached since 1946. - The market was not so broad as txsuaL. It marked the first, day in more than two weeks that the market hasnt lust dragged along with no real price trend shown. ? while -beans easily stood out as tnc strongest commodity, a good deal of firmness also was shown 'elsewhere. Wheat and rye bad nice gains, corn, oats' and lard, -aided by the upferard trend in other pits, pushed ahead with out stirring up much volume. Wheat ended 1 to 1 higher, corn 1 to feigner, oats u l cent higher, rye 2-2K higher, soybeans 3-5 higher, and lard 5 to 12 cents a hundred , pounds higher. - ?-' -' : v Main reason for the buying in soybeans was the news that West Germany had contracted to pur chase 19,250 tons of cash Deans, both old and new crop, from now through November. , Prices will range from $3.04 a bushel on old crop beans to $2.38 on the new crop.
