A total of 96,300 shares of GM traded including one block of 25, tOO shares. j The market generally closed on firm footing. An afternoon rally followed one of the worst pound- lags in months during the morn- &g. "If- Moves G rains CHICAGO, June 8 -VPh Grains and soybeans rallied toward the close today -and finished mostly higher after a shaky start Soy beans were the soft spot In early trading. Off as much as eight cents a bushel when liquidation in the July contract set off stop loss sell ing. Wheat was also under pressure, July wheat felt the influx of the new crop in the southwest, and good growing weather also retard ed action in the spring wheal con tracts. At the close wheat was unchang ed to higher, corn was to lower, oats were unchanged to 2 higher, rye was y to 4 higher, soybeans were 4 to higher and lard was 2 cents a hundredweight higher to 25 cents lower.
