Amity Family Entertains for Denver Folk BUtetnua News Service 1 AMITY Charles Walter (Law and his family of Denver, Colo., were guests of their grandfather, Dr. Charles H. Law on Memorial Day. He Is a lieutenant in the army air corps, and was on the return trip to Denver from Los Angeles where . he has received special radar training. Mr. and Mrs.; Carl Smith of Seattle, Wash., enroute home from Mexico, Mrs. Smith is a niece of Dr. Law, and the Lyle Barmow family and Al Cooke of Portland were also holiday guests at the Law home. A family dinner was served. ' Mr. and Mrs. George Sanford of Corpus Christe, .Texas, are visi tors at the home of her parents the Kupert Chnstensens. They came for the graduation exercises at the Amity grade school, Monday night when Mrs. Sanford s sister Gail graduated. 1 . Darling, 20, Salem route 9, was in the Marion county jail Saturday night in lieu .of Sl, 000 ball following his arrest on a district court warrant, charging burglary not in a dwelling. Sheriffs deputies said Darling is charged with three burglaries of the Liberty school south of Sa lem in recent months. The most recent entry occurred May 29. Deputies said food, athletic equip ment and miscellaneous items had been taken from the building dur ing the burglaries. WRECK PROVES FATAL EUGENE, June 3 A train automobile collision last Monday proved fatal early today to Mrs. John Compton, Junction City, who succumbed in a hospital here. Car Sneaks Up On Pedestrian PORTLAND, June 3-(A-An au tomobile, all by itself, sneaked up on a pedestrian today, knocked him .into the air, and then pinned him in a ditch beneath a running board. . I It took 15 minutes to get a I tow truck there to lift the car off him. Then the pedestrian, Marlen Per sonette, 25, scrambled out, appar ently with only minor cuts j and bruises. Ia., June i-(JP)-A 21-year-old employe fell into a 3,000 gallon tank containing sulphuric acid at the plant of the Maytag Washing Machine company here today. ! The employe, Melvin Dainty, managed to keep his head above theeurface until a fellow worker fished him out. He was; reported recovering from severe burns.
