I Rot McMahon was born in ita zen. N. Dak- Sept. 18. 191, and came to Oregon with Shis parents when a small boy. JThe family lived in Harrisburg for a time then In North Albany and for the past several years in Albany, where Rov attended the local schools. In Dec., 1939, he Joined the army at Vancouver oarracu, mm kicu for eiit years. He was awarded the Bronze Asiatic Pacific cam nabm and American Defense med als, and a good conduct meaai upon his discharge in 1947. He served in Alaska much oi the tune during World War II and was dls charged as staff sergeant. Surviving is his mother, Mrs. Anna McMahon, a brother John and two sisters. Mrs. Clara Mor lan and Mrs. Anna Miller, all of Albany, and a third i sister, Mrs Carol Kopeck of Chicago, 111. J Asa Scott Hart ALBANY Asa Scott Hart. 92. a resident of Albany for many years, died in Oakland, CaM- May 26. Funeral services will be held from the Fortmiller-Fredericksen cha pel in Albany at 4 o'clock Wednes day. May 31. The Rev. Morton Booth, pastor of the FirsT Presby terian church, of which Hart was member, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Hart was born In Illinois, Jan. 25, 1858. In early youth he went to Utica, N.Y, later going to Ne braska. While in Nebraska he married Nevada Lewis, at Hard ing, and ,' they came , to Albany about 1890. For many years after coming to Albany Mr. Hart was engaged as bookkeeper by the M. Sternberg fie Co, Men's Clothing store. Following the death of Mrs. nan, Mr. Hart nas made his home with his children, , but remained active until recently. 3 Surviving are three children. Edgar C. Hart of Seattle, Wash, Scott Hart or Helena. Mont. and Corintha Hart of Oakland. Calif. Also a brother Charles K. Hart of Kennesaw, Neb., a sister, Mrs. Ella Bentley of Palo Alto. Calif.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A I brother, Bruce Hart, died in Gil- was graduated from the Harris burg high school in 1931, and shortly afterwards was married to Loy Munsey who was employed in a butcher shop there. For several years they had lived at Ayer Junction about 50 miles north of Walla Walla. Mr. Mun sey is employed with a railroad, and was not home when his house burned. A daughter, 10-year old CorabelL said she and her mother were awakened about 2 o'clock in the morning to find their house was afire. Corabell climbed out of a window, but the mother went to awaken the son, Richard, and had just succeeded in doing so, wnen tna burning roof feu, shut ting them off from escape. Mr. Munsey's parents. Mr. and Mrs. EL ZL Munsey and a brother Delman Munsey reside in Albany, ana lert immediately for Ayer on receiving the news of the deaths. PAUL The St. Paul union high school will hold its exercises at the St. Paul city hall on Thurs day evening, June 1, at 8 p.m. Mrs. Agness Booth, superintendent of Marion county schools will be the. main speaker. Pat Kirk is the graduating dasj salutatorian and Richard Brentane is valedictorian. The graduating class is one of the smallest in the history 0! the high school and In addition to this distinction, will be the last class to graduate from the old high school building. The new school is supposed to be ready for occupancy by September.
