today that landlords are "permit
ting" tha New York apartment
house strike "in tha hope they can
get relief from tha (rent control)
law."
William McFetridge of Chicago,

NEW YORK, April 2-rF)-The
stock market made a strong come
back lata this week after stumb
ling badly at the start. '
When tha smoke of the week's
trading cleared away, the market
was resting comfortably lust
trifle under -the highest level in
nearly four years.
During Saturday's two - hour
market, fresh demand appeared
for automobile, aircraft and radio
television stocks-groups which
have been in demand for ,a good
part of tha week.
News affecting the market was
Impressively good so good that
some people wondered why tha
market did not make more pro-
tress than It did. Labor problems
la several Industries were regard
ad as causa for concern but the
problems have not yet broken out
Into strikes and there appeared to
he a good chance that strikes
would be avoided.
