Style show plans were com pleted, and the date announced for March 29 at the Memorial hall. Bea Curry and Beulah Parrett were named delegates to the dist rict convention; and chosen on the reading committee for the essay contest were Mary Hendrickson, Sally .Edmiston, Beulah Parrett and Lois Krauthodfer. Newly elected officers of the auxiliary are: Lois Krautnoeier, president; Geraldine McNamar, senior vice president; Mary Lou Schlatter, junior vice president; Addie Curry, guard; Clarine Ellis, conductress; Beulah Parrett, cnap- lain; Dorothy Lark-ins, treasurer; Harriet House, three-year trustee; Florence Ullrich, one-year trustee. Little Garden Club Auctions, Salem Heights Statesman Newt Service SALEM HEIGHTS Mrs. E. O. Welling was hostess to the Little Garden Club luncheon at her home on Boone Road. The afternoon was spent in a plant auction along with the luncheon as the club's money raising project. It netted $30. Mrs. Irvin Wagers won the prize and 14 members were present The fifth and sixth grades of Middle Grove school gave a sur prise farewell party for David Clements of Searsport, Maine, who left for home with his grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Clements. He has been attending school here since August, 1949. George A. Etxel STAYTON i George A. EtzeL 88, long-time resident of Sublim ity, died Monday, March 7.1, in a Salem hospital. He was born Dec. Z3, 1801 In Russia and had lived in the United States 60 years. He was retired farmer. Etzel is survived by five sons, Joseph A. Etzel of Jefferson, Peter J. Etzel of Sublimity, John W. Etzel of Stayton. George E. Et zel of Dallas and Alex J. Etzel of Portland, and by a half-brother, Michael Etzel of Salem. Funeral services will take place Wednesday, March 29, at 9 ajn. in St. Boniface Catholic church in Sublimity with the Rev. Joseph Scherbring officiating. Interment will take place at Sublimity. . John Remington SILVERTON Funeral services for John Remington, 67, who died here March 26, will take place Wednesday, March 29, at 3:30 pjn. in the Ekman funeral chapel with interment at Valley View ceme tery. He is survived by four children, Mrs. Charlotte Martin and Ken neth Remington, both of Sweet Home; Frank Remington of Brice land, Calif., and Robert Reming ton of Arcota, Calif., and by four sisters and three brothers. Clarence L. Fowler UNIONVALE Clarence L. Fowler, 81, a retired fanner, died at bis home here Saturday. March 23. He had been a resident of the Unionvale district for the past 34 years. He was born May 7, 1869. In Illi nois. He Is survived by the widow, Gertrude, and by two sons. Dale L. Fowler of Dayton and Floyd Fowler of Portland. Funeral services will take place TueSOay.
