In the afternoon Seaside and Mc Loughlin high of Milton-Free-Water open the program and Bend is matched with Grants Pass in the second game. In the evening double-header. La Grande draws the defending champions frorn Roosevelt in the . opener and Eugene meets Central Catholic in the final game of the Crst round, The 1950 tournament is the first time that two teams. Seaside and Grants Pass, have ever competed &r the state championship. All of other teams have made at least toe trip to the classic. They will meet again on the Van couver, Wasli alleys Sunday to complete the competition. Four Clark teams Jtaa a Handi cap total of 11,373 to the Bearcats 11,270. PGA Sanctions Cavalier Mix MIAMI BEACH. Fla, March 12 -OPHThe 810,000 54-hole open of the third annual Cavalier Special ists' Golf tournament today was given official sanction and bless ing of the Professional Golfers as sociation. It was announced by George Schneiter, PGA tourna ment bureau director. It thereby becomes the only 54 hole open golf tournament on the professional circuit to have PGA approval, Schneiter pointed out The open feature of the Special ists will be run off at the Cavalier Yacht and Country club course at Virginia Beach, with 18-hole play April 22 and 36-hole windup April 23. , The team match, pitting Iff of the nation's top specialists In the shot for which each is best known, carries a purse of 1500 or $125 tor each winning player. It also was announced today that half of the team personnel already had been selected. The announcement, coming from Tom C. Utter back, of Richmond, Cava lier Specialists' Tournament di rector and a member of the PGA advisory tournament committee, lists the top four drivers and top approaching - and - trouble, iron players.
