Guests were Laura Holdgrafer, Ann Ryan, Pa tricia Ottele, Coletta Williams and Marie McCord. The next meeting will be March 10 at the home of Hazel Tyner. SHERIDAN HAS X-RAY SHERIDAN Mrs. Otto W. Hei der, Sheridan, of the Yamhill County Public Health association, announced that the chest x-ray unit will visit Sheridan on March Id, 17 and 20. Sheridan Pvt. Arlington Broadwell, 17, son of A. E. Broad well of Sheridan, has reported to the Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Tex, to begin training. A benefit for the hall will take place on the first Friday of each month and a chicken supper is set for April 7. Orlin King, operator of The Pit, 2060 Lancaster dr., roasted the hams for last Friday's dinner. ' A program followed the meal with participants including James Ritchie and his orchestra, DeAnn McClaughry, Delbert B o 1 1 o n s. HOLLYWOOD, March 5 Nine-year-old Lora Lee Michel, film tot who last month, was the renter of a dramatic courtroom, tag " war between her natural sad footer mothers cheeks her script with Ac tor Edmond O'Brien as she resumed her movie career in Hollywood. The foster mother, Mrs. Lorraine Michel, who retained the chllds custody in court, had previously said the girl would retire from films and return to her Texas home. (AP wirephoto to the States man.) .. - ' " j; . I Valley Obituaries SUtecaua Newt Service Mrs. Grace McClure ALBANY Mrs. Mamie Grace McClure, 78, died in her sleep at her home in Tangent on March 3. Funeral services are being ar ranged by the Fisher Funeral home, and will be held from its chapel at a time to be announced later. Rev. Andrew Lanzendorf of Tangent will officiate. Burial will be in the Albany Masonic ceme tery. Grace Gallager was born in Sheboygan county, Wis., and was reared by an aunt Her mother died when Grace was two years old. -The early years of her life were spent in Wisconsin and Mich igan and on Dec. 23, 1898, at Meno minee, Mich;, she was married to D. C McClure. They came to Ore gon in 1913 and for several years farmed In the neighborhood of Wells, later moving into Albany. The couple moved to Tangent about 1920 where they operated a restaurant known as "Mother's Inn." It was while operating the inn that Mrs. McClure became known throughout the west for her famous prune conserve. McClure died in 1932, and for a time Mrs. McClure continued to operate the inn but she sold and moved into a house nearby, where she had since lived. She was a member of the Methodist church and of Beulah Rebekah lodge of Albany. Surviving are a step-son, George McClure of Los Angeles, Calif., and a cousin, Helen Colvin of Dil lard. , Linda Intra m ALBANY Graveside services will be held in the Brownsville Masonic cemetery at 10 am Mon day, March 6, for Linda Ingram, day-old infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ingram of Browns ville. The deceased was born in Wil lamina July 21, 1949, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Soppington. She died at a Coos Bay hospital after a brief illness.
