Calif, Feb. 12-WV At times looking more like an obstacle course runner than a dog sled racer, Lewis Ppc of west Yellowstone, Mont, beat the field again today in the Sierra Dog derby. Price and his Siberian huskies covered an 11-mile course along UJ5. highway 40 in one hour, 19 minutes, 15 seconds. That is 50 minutes longer than it took him to win an 11-mile race yesterday around a snowy track. The difference resulted from the many ditches, patches of dry pave ment. Jutting rocks and tangled brush that slowed the sled and exhausted the dogs along today's course. Table of Coastal Tides Tides for Tail. Oreron. February. 1050 (compiled by UJ. Feb. 12-(;P)-Foot- ball fans on the West Coast, once scornful of the Rose Bowl tie-up with the Big Ten, now are de manding a renewal of that tie-up. So reported Commissioner Vic tor D. Schmidt of the Pacific Coast conference here. 'The reason, he said, is pride. The Coast conference has taken four straight defeats from Big Ten teams in the Rose Bowl, and fans now are insisting on a chance at revenge, Schmidt said in an inter view. He added that no renewal yet had been arranged between the two conferences, but pointed out that the present agreement still has a year to run and there is plenty of time for negotiations.
