By Jeryme Eiislisb Statesman Society Editor One of the larger social affairs of the week will be the tea for which Mrs. Douglas McKay, wife of Gover nor McKay, will be hostess on Friday afternoon at the McKay residence on Jerris avenue. The tea is being ar ranged in compliment to two newcomers in the cap ital, Mrs. Harry S. Dorman and Mrs. Thomas Lawson McCall, who have moved here from Portland. Mr. Dor man is the new state budget director and Mr. McCall is administrative assistant to the governor. Invitations to the tea were in the mail this past week to a large group of Salem women and calling hours are from 2:30 to 5:30 o'clock. Miss Alene Phillips will introduce the guests to Mrs. McKay and the honor guests, who will receive informally in the living room. Mrs. William L. Phillips will be at the doon? Presiding' at the tea urns during the afternoon will be Mrs. J. W. Frater and Mrs. John G. Cheetham of Portland, mother and sister of Governor McKay, Mrs. Earl Snell, Mrs. Hall S. Lusk, Mrs. Charles A. Sprague and Miss Elizabeth Lord. Mrs. E. M. Page will be fn charge of the dining room and assisting will be Mrs. Roy S. Keene of Gorvallis, Mrs. W. Wells Eaum, Mrs. William S. Cole, Mrs. Richard D. Slater, Miss Dorathea Steusloff, Mrs. G. Frederick Chambers, and Mrs Harry U. Miller. The McKay's two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Hadley and Mrs. Lester D. Green of Eugene, will also be assisting about the rooms dur ing the tea hours. Rotary club members will entertain with their annual ladies night dinner n Wednesday fn' the Mirror room of the Marion hotel at 7 o'clock. The Valentine motif will be used in the floral decorations on the dinner tables and corsages will mark places for the women. Over 250 are expected to attend the affair. 1 L. O. Arens, president of Rotary, will preside as toastmaster. Guest speaker , will be Thomas Lawson McCall, administrative assistant to the governor, whose subject will be "Are Women Here to Stay.". Dean Melvin H. Geist has arranged the music. A string ensemble composed of .Betty Kuhlman, Frank Holman, Doris McCain, and GFen nis Allen will play during the dinner hour. Duet numbers will be given by Betty Jean Mullin find Robert Gwinn, ac companied by Miss Allen, and Miss Kuhlman and Miss Allen will play a group of violin and piano selections: , .
