Marion County Gets$09,473 In Road Funds Marion county will receive $109, 473 in state highway funds and $1,159 In state 'amusement tax revenues, aerording to figures by Secretary of State Earl T. New bry. Highway funds available for dis tribution throughout the state totaled $t.709.708. while amuse ment revenues totaled $45,999. Distribution of highway funds Is based on- the number of motor vehicles registered in each county during the preceding year. Amuse ment taxes are apportioned on the basis of money expended by each county for old age assistance. Other county totals in distribu tion of highway funds . included Clackamas, $89,310; Linn, $63,581; Polk, $23,064; and Yamhill, $42, 998. -: . . - Totals received in amusement tax revenues were: Clackamas, $1,048; Linn. $436; Polk, $322; and Yamhill, $324. Marion county received the sec ond largest total of amusement tax revenues in the state and the third tar f eat apportionment of fundi. Sunday, January 22. 195013 Most Oregon School Buses Pass Inspection Most of the 1,252 school buseo inspected in Oregon since last August were found to be safe Secretary of State Earl T. New bry said Saturday. As directed by the 1949 legisla ture, Newbry hired two inspectors to check every school bus. The first inspection now is complete. Prior to last year,' inspection was in charge of the public utilities commission. A few buses were found to be obsolete, and they have been re placed. Clackamas county has the most buses, 108. Lane county has 108 Gilliam county has the fewest, four. The safety division of Newbrys office has riven courses of instruc tion to 1,000 school bus drivers. JOHNSON ELECTED SILVERTON Robert Johnson has been elected Silverton high school student body president to succeed Marvin Jahn for the final semester of this season.
