Radios will be given the first three places and an album of records for the fourth. Gilbert Bateson of Salem high school won first and a transcrip tion of his talk has been sent to the state contest. T. Rigdon chapel, ; Starr, who also was chief of the bureau of audits and accounts for the secretary of state, died Saturday at his home at 1624 N. 20th st. He was 51. Marines Re-Enlist From Salem Area ' Re-enlistment of two marines and first hitch for another were announced Monday by the Salem marine recruiting office. Donald E. Amen, Salem route 1, box 21, and Dwaine G. O'Harra, 2495 Maple ave., re-enlisted as privates first class for three-yt r terms. They have gone to San Diego for assignment. Harold Allan Lewis, son of Mrs. Geneva Lewis, 690 N. Lancaster dr., signed up for three years and has been sent to San Diego for boot training. His step-brother, Ronald Collins, enlisted a month ago. Neuner Rules Out Director Service Directors of rural fire protection districts are prohibited from per forming services for the district for compensation, such as making repairs to a fire station or selling merchandise to the fire depart ment. Attorney General " George Neuner held Monday. There is nothing in the . law, however, to prevent director from serving as a volunteer fire, man and receiving the usual com pensation, Neuner said.
