The "school of tomorrow was
discussed by Miss Elizabeth Rader,
state elementary school director,
at the Englewood school's first
PTA meeting of the season this
week.
Bliss Rader stressed the import'
ance of discarding outmoded
equipment and methods and pre
dicted that schools of the future
would seem almost fantastic when
compared with those of today.
The first PTA gathering attract
ed a large turnout of parents. Mu
sic was furnished by Mrs. Wayne
Meusey, who presented vocal and

Case Fatal

year-old boy died of diphtheria
here last night bringing to three
the number of fatalities from that
disease here.

In early dealings the market
showed signs of getting ahead.
In mid-morning, though. Presi
dent Truman, speaking at a press
conference, , indicated he would
be forced to ask congress for high
er taxes when the legislators re
convene in January. Demand
flagged immediately.
For most of the balance of the
session quotations were persist
ently shaded. Turnover was most
active when rallying signs were
in evidence. Business for the day,
swollen by numerous big blocks
which sold in the morning, con
tracted to 1,270,000 shares from
1,370,000 Wednesday.
The Associated Press average
of 60 stocks dipped J2 of one point
to 67.1.
