Court Agrees Site Favorable For New Oltice A step toward a new Marion county health department build ing was taken! Wednesday when Marion county court received a "favorable" offer on a . site from the state board of control. Marion ' County Judge Grant Murphy said the court's reaction to the $3,500 offer was "satis factory." The otter will be filed while a survey of building costs is undertaken by the court. The state land is just over an acre in area and is -adjacent to Salem General hospital. ' Judge Murphy said the cost of a new plant would amount to about $50,000. This money, he said would either come from the county budget or from a special tax levy. ' The judge feltthe lat ter method would be the one de cided upon. At any rate, he said, the matter of raising the , funds will not be considered before May 1950, when the county budget committee next meets. The capitol building in Washing ton, D. C. covers approximately three and one-half acres. BISHOP'S PRESENT I Qo1 EL7eL7L?v(3D(2)in FOR I BOYS ! ASH ABLE Gay bright stripes that retain their color aft er many Washings. Purchasers Seek Land Title County Forgot it Owned Marion county court has under consideration an offer of $200 for a strip of land it didnt know it owned. The portion is about 200 feet long and 25 feet wide and lies along Lana avenue at its junction with Silverton road. It is at the site where a service station, own ed by Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Hanson, recently burned down. The Hansons wish to build a larger station. When Lana avenue was improved a number of years ago, and the surrounding land re sold, the county neglected to sell the strip. Nothing Down.
