Miss Thomas John Macy Married - Joan Thomas, daughter of Mr. snd Mrs. Robert E. Thomas, Port Orford. became the bride of John A. Mary, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. A- Macy, Monmouth at the St. Christophers chapel. Port Orford on August 6. at an 8 o'clock cere mony. Bishop Thomas Jenkins officiated. Soloist was Michael Carolan who was accompanied" by Mrs. Bernal Forty. Edward Sargenti and Kenny Forty lighted the tapers. ; The bride, given in, marriage -by her father, wore a white eye let embroidery and organdy dress , with a fingertip illusion veil .She carried a nosegay of " gardenia. j yellow rose buds and bovardia. i Mrs. Alan Corbin was her sis ter's maid of honor. She wore a yellow printed organay ana carried a cascade bououet of rose buds, stephanotis and pink car nations. criaesmaias were aum amw Sweet. Bandon. and Miss. Mar- Jorie Andresen, Camas, Wash. Their gowns were blue print or gandy, with blue sashs and they carried' nosegays of yellow rose buds, stephanotis and pink car nations. Anne Wilson, niece of the groom was flower girl and Danny Killian. cousin of the bride was ring bearer Robert Macy acted as best man. and Alan Corbin and Gordon Kunke seated the guests. Opera Role for r Miss Cnmminnp; Lucile Cummings, mezzo - sop rano who began her musical car eer in Salem, is to be under con tract with the City Center Opera company of New York. A con tract, offered when the manager heard her on" a nationwide broad cast on The Telephone hour a few weeks ago, was awaiting her when she arrived here for a short vaca tion with her parents. After a. week with her parents,! Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Cummings, Mim Cummings will return to New York to begin work on the role of 1 Amnerus in "Aida" which will j open Jn October. ( . 1 Singing at Radio City Music Hall in New York for several years, j Miss Cummings began her musical studies in Salem. A pianist, in her j high school days she served as an accompanist for the voice students of Lena Belle Tartar, who was Miss Cummings' first voice tea cher, ' From Salem Miss Cummings went to Portland and then to San Francisco and Los Angeles, doing both radio and concert work in those cities, she also made appear ances with symphony orchestras In all three of the cities. She left tor New York to study six years ; ago and in 1944 was one of the i two finalists in the Metropolitan Auditions of the air.
