Grain Futures
Mixed Under
Mart Pressure
CHICAGO," Aug! 2 -(4V Wheat
and corn, futures were mixed to
day, with the market under pres
sure most of the session. Lard
and soybeans made a strong
start but later fell under profit
taking. Oats were firm most of
the time. v 1
Some wheat selling was caused
by genera trade disappointment
over the government wheat sub
sidy rates, announced yesterday,
and also because the subsidies ap
parently attracted no immediate
business. ,
Wheat ended Vt lower to Va
nigner, corn was ;. vt aown w
up.i oats were -v higher to H
lower, rye was off IV4 to 2, soy
beans were to 1 lower, and
lard was 13 cents a hundred
pounds higher to 5 cents lower.
The first wheat subsidies an
nounced yesterday afternoon were
22 cents a bushel for export from
the; east coast, 34 cents from' the
west coast, and 28 cents from
the - gulf. Traders had expected
rates from 40 to 60 cents.
