In the first general rise since last Tuesday, leading issues 'ad- . vanced fractions to around a point Not since mid-May , has the market, on average, been so high. The advance was clowed and labored, and also persistent. .Clos ing prices were tops lor the day in most cases. . ; ? Despite the improvement in .prices, traders were unable to whip up much enthusiasm. Turn over amounted to 860.0000 shares but sales in Commonwealth if Southern alone accounted for 191, 200 shares. Business Friday amounted to 640,000 shares., The Associated Press average of 60 stocks advanced .3 of one point to 63.2. This level was last ' touched on May 19 and topped May 18.
