ber to the school board for three
years. Wiley Biggins is the out
going member. Other members
are E. M. Boies, chairman, and
Clarence Sundet Mrs. Don Meth
eny will serve as clerk this year,
replacing Mrs. Harlan Pearsall,
who has acted as clerk for the
past several years.

are necessary to clear the pool for
the first period of free swimming
instruction being sponsored by the
city recreation and park board.
Four classes of swimming in
struction began last week. A group
of intermediates has lessons at
11:15 a.m., two classes of b sin
ners have Instruction at 1 and 1:45
p.m. and a group of intermediates
meet at 5:30 p.m. Anothei series
of instructions will begin July '9

and one class for adult beginners.

Fire Damages House
Near Sweet Home
SWEET HOME The Cecil
Pierce home, two miles north of
here, was extensively damaged
by fire Sunday. The lo was
abaut $7,000.
Pierce discovered the fne burn
ing in the attic upon returning
from church. The Sweet Home
fire department came to the scene
within a few minutes, but not
before the fire had ttorned ' most
of the attic. The home was par
tially insured.
