Polk Fruit Fly Program Plans Being Made Soon Polk county operator of pray In? and dusting equipment ara iiked to meet Monday, May II $ I pjn. tn the county extension Office tn Dallas to discus the 1949 cherry fruit fly control pro gram. N. John Hansen. Polk county extension agent, state that the meeting la called for the purpose of discussing plans for complete control of cherry fruit fly. Polk County is Included in the cherry fruit fly control program, which provides for compulsory prayin or dusting of all cherry trees. This program is administered by the state department of agricul ture. Hansen states that it is still too ariy to spray for fruit fly con trol. Notices will be sent to all Cherry growers when the fruit fly merges. Any person who has not revived spray notices In previous y-ars Is asked to contsrt the County extension office and their Hurries will be added to the cherry pcay list. Guernsey Spring Event Plans Made Marion and Polk county Guern sey breeders have completed plint for the annual spring show at the state fairgrounds in Salem, Saturday. May 21. All Oregon adult and junior Guernsey breed ers with purebreds are eligible to come to the shew. Animals may be brought in on Frilay night. May 20. and a watchman will remain in charge all night. Showing cf the 4-H and EFA heifers will start at 9 am unch will be seized at noon by the Rickey Garden club Cattle tested for tuberculosis and Bangs diseases before March 31 should b tested again. Test reports and registration papers must be brought along for all animals ex empting those too young or tn transfer.
