April 25-yP)-Grains ended lower today after making a timid attempt to stage a rally in early dealings. Only exceptions to the lower trend were May corn and December oats. Wheat showed a firm tone in early dealings, but in the last hour fell quite rapidly. But dealings did not show any great increase. Some of the selling appeared to come from local traders who had bought earlier in the day in hopes of a sustained advance. Wheat closed -l lower, corn 'Was lower to higher, oats were 1 lower to higher, rye was Va to 3 cents lower, soybeans were 1 lower and lard was 7 to 18 cents a hundred pounds lower. Selling in wheat followed post ing of visible supply figures, which showed a gain of 173,000 bushels In the past week. In this week last year wheat supply dropped 3,582. 000 bushels. Stocks this week tot aled 92,655,000 bushels against 45,873,000 last year. Trade circles said flour sales in the southwest continued to run at very low level. Stocks Rally Near Closing NEW YORK. April 25-P)-A mild last minute rally pulled -the stock market out of a slump today, and it closed only a shade on the downside. The bulk of the change was in fractions. The market was steady at the start with a tendency to go higher, but that faded away steadily each hour until near the close when tome recovery appeared. The Associated Press average of 60 stocks was unchanged, as were the components in the average for Industrials and rails. The utilities average was off .1 of a point. There were 930 individual issues traded, the narrowest market in a month. Of these, 402 declined and 162 advanced. The volume was 740,000 shares, lowest in a couple of weeks.
