Breakfasts, Family Dinners Highlights . . .

Easter day will be marked with family gatherings and dinner parties, with early morning break
lasts and the traditional Easter egg hunts lor the children. Families will attend the various morning
church services throughout the city with dinners aijd blossom day rides to follow in the afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Powell will be hosts for theirannual Easter egg hunt this morning at their Mis
sion street home, "Deepwood." Youngsters bidden are her grandchildren, John and Clifford Brown,
lorn of the Werner Browns, Vivenne, Roxanne anil Bil! Brown, children of Mr. and Mrs. Chandler
Brown, Susan and Casey Olinger, children of Dr. and Mrs. Harold Oiingcr.
Two Breakfasts Slated
A group of young maids and matrons wili gained for their annual Easter breakfast this morning at
the Marion hotel. Covers will be placed for the Misses Joyce Smith, Wanda Hathaway, Luella Camp
bell, Patricia Burrell Patti Ray, Virginia Huston, Marilyn Hill, Marianne Bonesteele, Joan Blaxall,
Barbara Hendrickson, Patricia Wilson, JoanAdoiph, Mrs. James Erickson, Mrs. Harvey Loveall, jr., Mrs.
William Hill, Mrs. Dale Pence and Mrs. KeTith Morris.
Gathering this morning at the Senator hotel for a 9 o'clock Easter breakfast will be a group of

Families Gather for Dinner
Mrs. J. J. Nunn is entertaining with a family gathering today at her North 19th street home. Her
daughter, Mrs. Peter Newell, arrived in the capital Saturday morning from Oakland, Calif., to spend
Easter with her mother. She will return south Monds-y night. Other guests at the Nunn home today
for dinner will be her other daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McGilvra and children, Joanne
and Paul, of Forest Grove, B. M. Durland, brother of Mrs. Nunn, and his daughter and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Culp and son, Michael, of LaGrande.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Spaulding will be hosts for a family dinner today at their Fairmount Hill
home. Their guests will be Dr. and Mrs. John Griffith, Mary and Joan, Mrs. Lewis Griffith and son,
John, Mr and Mrs. John Copenhaver, Karen and John, Mrs. George Rodger. Mr. and Mrs. Asel

Visitors in Capital For Holiday . v .
A number, of visitors are in the capital for the Easter weekend to
spend the day with their families and others are out-of-town to be with rel
atives. Miss Mary Lou McKay and her fiance, Lester Green, are home from
Oregon State college and University of Oregon respectively, to spend Easter
at the home of her parents, Governor and Mrs. Douglas McKay.
Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd W. Shepard are
their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Alexander, and son,
Robert Shepard, of Eugene, the latter two students at the University of Ore
gon, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Macaulay of Portland.
Mrs. Thomas Watson of Portland is spending the Easter weekend in Sa
lem with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Paulson.
Miss Edna L. Sterling of Seattle is in Salem for Easter and is the guest

Luncheon For High School Set . .
Miss Margie Smith will be hostess for an Easter luncheon on Monday
afternoon at one o'clock at the South Winter street home of her parents, Dr.
and Mrs. G. Herbert Smith. A group of Salem high school seniors have been
bidden to the affair. Guests will be seated at individual tables with spring
bouquets for centerpieces. The afternoon hours will be spent informally and
Edna Marie Hill will play for the group.

Reception to Honor the McKay's . .
Attracting a number of Salem people to Portland next weekend will be
the formal reception, dinner and dance to be given by the University club
in compliment to Governor and Mrs. Douglas McKay and their daughters,
Mrs. Wayne Hadley and Miss Mary Lou McKay, on Saturday, April 23.
A reception will beheld in the Guild .room from 7 to 8 p. m. and a buf
fet dinner will be served in the Orchid and Rose rooms between 7:30 and
11 o'clock. Dancing will be in the main dining room from 9 to 1 o'clock A
feature of the evening's entertainment will be singing by the Oswego male
quartet. The affair has attracted unusual interest and in expected to draw
one of the largest crowds of the club's spring social calendar
Highlight of the coming week will be the benefit tea for which members
of the Salem Memorial hospital auxiliary will be hostesses on Thursday aft
ernoon at the North 14th street home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo N Childa. The)
interested public is invited to call between the hours of 2 and flro'clock. Fro
ceeds from the event will be used to equip the new formula room in the nur
sery at the hospital. j

Plans Made For Nile Tea . . .
On the social agenda for Thursday, April 28 is the silver te for which
members of the Salem Daughters of the Nile club will be hostesses at th
Masonic temple. Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 o'clock fnd all proceeds
derived from the tea will be turned over to the Shrine hospiital in Portland.
