Grains Sink on
Board of Trade
CHICAGO, April 13 -(JV With
the exception of May wheat,
grains sank on the board of trade
today. Losses ran to about a cent
in corn and in the new crop wheat
deliveries.
May wheat spurted nearly a
cent on short covering and a little
mill buying. It was influenced by
strength in wheat at Minneapolis
as well as the possibility there
may not be much free wheat
around for delivery on these con
tracts by the end of May.
Wheat closed 14 lower to 4
higher, corn was i to 1 cent low
er, oats were hk-Vt lower, rye
was ii lower, soybeans were un
changed to V lower and lard was
8 cents krwer to 3 cents a hundred
pounds higher.

Stock Market
Action Slack
NEW YORK, April 13-(i!P-Trad-ing
attention centered on a hand
ful of stocks in a wavering mar
ket today. "
The bulk of the market see
sawed along in more or less aim
less fashion. Final quotations
showed a mixture of fractional
changes with losses outweighing
gains.
Selling became a Little more in
sistent during the final hour and
a good handful of key stocks clos
ed at or near the low points of
the day.
Comparatively lively action in
a hand-picked group of shares
helped to swell trading volume to
the largest total since last Wed
! nesday. The day's business
amounted to 910,000 shares, conv
pared with 850,000 yesterday.
The Associated Press average of
60 stocks dipped .1 of one point
to 63.9. The rail component was
unchanged, industrials slipped and
utilities edged ahead.

peas, Gregor J. Mendel in the
mid-1800s developed a principle
