Gathering at the Sen ator hotel one -day for luncheon with Mrs. Dean Walker . . . . were Mrs. Marshall E. Comett of Klamath Falls, who stopped here Tuesday to visit with friends be fore going on south . . . she has been in Washington, D. C, and other eastern and southern points since early January . . . . mostly on business as Oregon's national republican committee woman . . . Mrs. Comett wore a becoming burgundy suit with grey hat and accessories . . . . Mrs. Lee Patterson down from Portland for the day to join the visitor and wearing a navy ensem ble accented with white . . . . Mrs. Arthur Knox chic in a navy b ue outfit and Mrs. Walker smartly dressed in a black and white print eton jacket ensemble with black patent accessories and perky black straw chapeau . . . Mrs. Frederick Young of Portland was also down on Tuesday in the interest of PTA of which she is state legislative chairman . . . Honoring Mrs. Joseph E. Har vey of Portland, wife of Repre sentative Harvey, at luncheon dur ing the week was Mrs. Albert C. Gragg . . i The iHarveys have had an apartment at the Gragg home during the session and the affair was more or less an au re voir party . j. . as plans are now the legislature will wind up this week sometime . , . The guest list included a group of Mrs. Har vey's legislative friends . . . aft er the luncheon Mrs. Paul Geddes of Roseburg, an accomplished or ganist, played informally for the group on Mrs. Gragg's melodian. Dinner Time . . . on Wednes day at the Legion ! club . . . . three or four large parties going on at the same time . . . Sen. and Mrs. Jack Bain of Portland were hosts at dinner in honor of Sen. and Mrs. Thomas Mahoney and other democratic senators and their wives 1 with the legislative press as additional guests . . . . Mrs. Bain wearing an attractive pearl grey crepe gown ornamented with ruby clips and Mrs. Maho ney receiving in a black crepe dress . . Mrs. Paul Flegel, who serves as secretary for her father-in-law, a symphony in white . . . All pink and white flowers on the long table with pink tapers . . . Also dining . . . With the Gar len Simpsons were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan White, who are here from Trieste for a month . . . Mrs. White most attractive and wearing a grey and white polka dot out fit . . . The Carl Porters up frbm Albany and joining the John McCulloughs for dinner . . . The Lowell Kerns and their charming coed daughter. Glen, here from Portland and dining with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hendricks and Ann Carson . . . Glen flies back to New York today to resume her studies at Finch college . . . DANCING BY ... at the Til licum club Easter dance a week ago at the Marion hotel . . . . Easter eggs and bunnies on the tables with two large bunnies above the orchestra . . . Mrs. John S. Lochead, who is now headed for Canada, wearing a stunning avocado green satin gown with drape effect at the side . . . A violet crepe gown with tiered skirt of fringe worn by Mrs. E.; E. Boring . . . Also choosing violet was Mrs. Harris Lietz, whose crepe frock" was designed with a print bodice of the same shades . . . Striking were the many, many strands of pears Mrs. C: Lester Newman wore with her orchid satin gown . . . Spring prints for Mrs. Elmer Berglund, Mrs. Rollin Lewis and Mrs. Frank Shafer . . . the latter's of white pique with scatter print in shades of blue. AT THE DOG SHOW . . . . steady stream of dog enthusiasts, mostly parents of their children, entering the grandstand building at the fairgrounds all weekend . . . The Salem Lions auxiliary women busy both days serving food and a grand job they did . . . just like a typical restaurant at the fair . . . Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Hayes of Portland greeting their Salem friends again and entering their St Bernards act the show . . . Mrs. Hayes is still thrilled about the trip they took to Switz erland last year and says is re minds her so much of! the Willam ette valley and hopes to go back soon . . . Three of their children are pretty well scattered now, which means longer trips for the Hayes family . . . Jack is in De troit . . . Louise (Mrs. Thomas Hayes) is in Washington, D. C, with her air corps hasband . . . and Adele is in California . . . Proudly . . . showing their rib bons were Louisa and Deborah Lamb, who entered their Chesa peake Retriever, Diver, in the show . . . and Louisa also won second in the children's handling class . . . Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Hoffman were busy- with their cockers they had entered in the show . . . and nearby were the J. H. Willetts . . . and again con gratulations to Mr. Willett for managing the successful show . , . Dances Are Scheduled The Town club will hold its spring dinner dance on Saturday night, April 16 in the Mirror Room of the Marion; hotel. Din ner will be at 9 o'clock with danc ing following to the music of Glenn Williams and his orchestra. The decorating committee in cludes Mr. and Mrs. Homer L. Goulet, Mr. and Mn. Kenneth Potts and Mr. and Mrs. John Helt zel. Hosts will be Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Busick, Mr. and Mrs. Garlen L. Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. George Scales and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Smith, Jr. Cards were in the mail this week to Waverly club members announcing the last dance of the season for Saturday, iApril 23. The affair will be i ports and dinner will be at 9 o'clock followed by dancing at the Marion hotel. Cama club members have changed the night of their dance from April 15 to the fifth Friday of the month, April; 29 at Crystal Gardens. Subscription club members will entertain with a formal dinner dance on April 30 at the Marion hotel. First on the slate will be the Junior Woman's club Easter Bonnet bridge benefit Monday night at the clubhouse at 8 o'clock. Hats, to be shown by Miller's, will be modeled by Mrs. C. M. Collins, Mrs. Thomas Gabriel, Mrs. William Stewart, Mrs. Terry Randall and Mrs. Ross Coppock. The theme of the re vue will be kept a secret until the show begins. Bridge will be in play after the show and guests are asked to bring their own table accessories. Reservations may still be made with Mrs. Arthur Roeth lin, Mrs. Donald Cannon or Mrs. Raymond Randall. Spinster Tea Saturday One of the largest affairs of the month wiU be the annual Easter silver tea for which the Spinsters will be hostesses on Sat urday afternoon, April IS at the North Summer street home of Mrs, Reuben P. Boise. All inter ested persons are invited to call between the hours of 2 and 5 o'clock. Proceeds from the affair will o towards the YWCA build ing fund. Greeting guests at the door will be Elisabeth Walton, daughter of the James Waltons, and Diane Emigh, daughter of the George Emighs. In the receiving line will be Miss Betty Jean Manoles, chair man of the tea, Mrs. Peter H Geiser, president of the Spinsters, Mrs. Frank H. Spears, Miss Beryl Holt and Mrs. George A. White of Portland. Presiding at the tea urns during the afternoon will be Mrs. C. S. Hamilton, Mrs. Homer H. Smith, sr., Mrs. Robert E. Shinn, Mrs. Curtis B. Cross, Mrs. Linn C Smith and Mrs. Edgar T. Pierce. Spinsters will assist about the rooms and serve in the dining room. Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Tea Thursday, April 21 is the date for the Salem Memorial hospital auxiliary benefit tea. The affair will be held at the North 14th street home of Mrs. Leo N. Childs with the interested public invited to call between. 2 and 5 o'clock. Proceeds from the tea will be used to equip the new formula room in the nursery at the hos pital. Co-chairmen of the tea are Mrs. Jacob Foos and Mrs. A. C. Haag. Mu Phi Tea Slated Event of Sunday afternoon, April 24 will be the benefit tea for which members of Mu Phi Epsilon, national music sorority on the Willamette university cam pus, will be hostesses at the North 14th street home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burlingham. Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 o'clock. Proceeds from the tea will be sent to Gads Hill, a music school in Chicago for underpriveleged children, which is sponsored by the music sorority. A concert will precede the tea at Waller hall t 3 o'clock with members of the sorority participating. American composers will be featured in keeping with the spirit of the organization. Nile Silver Tea Salem Daughters of the Nile club will entertain with a silver tea on Thursday afternoon, April 28 at the Masonic Temple. The club entertains each year with a bridge benefit, but this year a tea is planned instead. All interested persons are invited to attend and calling hours are from 2 to S o'clock. Benefits derived from the tea will govto the Shrine hospital Mrs. Charles Boyer, president of the club, has appointed Mrs. Run sell Bright general chairman of the affair. Wednesday Afternoon Literature group of AAUW will meet at the home of Mrs. A. A. Rogers, 330 N. Summer st., at 1:15 p.m. Mrs. W. S. Ankey will review "The Years of the Locust." UNIVERSITY OF OREGON Panhellenic members from Willa mette university, Oregon State college, and the University of Oregon sororities will meet on the' University of Oregon campus Saturday, April 30, for an all-day workshop. Theme of the meeting Panhellenic is the organization for intersorority relationships. Plans for the workshop have been formulated under the com bined efforts of Panhellenic or ganizations on the three campuses and the Eugene City Panhellenic, working in cooperation with ihe office of Golda P. Wickham, dir ector of women's affairs In the university. This is the second an nual event, the first workshop held at Corvallis in 1948. Ladles guild !
