Final plans for the affair were! completed at a committee meet ing on Wednesday at the home of the chairman. Mrs. Chester Fritz. Orth, to Wilbur Ervin Dodd. jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur E. Dodd of Gervais. The ceremony will take place on Sunday after noon. April 24 at 5 o'clock at St. Joseph's, Catholic church with Father T. J. Bernards officiat ing. Lawrence Orth will give his sis ter in marriage and she has asked Miss Cynthia Needham to be her honor maid. Bridesmaids will be Miss Rita Lancaster, Miss Carmen Civens, Miss Patricia Burrell and Miss Phyllis Ladd. Susan Ladd wilt be the junior attendant. Thomas Dodd of Gervais will be his brother's best man and ushers will be William Dodd. Richard Swain. Robert Meaner and Rob ert Ladd. A reception at the South 14th street hnmt of the bride's mother will follow the nuptials. A Bridal Shewer Miss Cynthia Needham enter tained with a miscellaneous show er in honor of Miss Orth at the Morninsside home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Needham. on Friday night. A late supper was served by the hostess with Miss Rita Lancaster presiding at the coffee urn. Arrangements of spring flowers were used about the rooms and twenty guests were bidden to fete Miss Orth. The couple's engagement was announced at Christmas time. Miss Orth is a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and is now employed at the Pacific Telephone and Tele graph Co. Her fiance attended Salem schools and is with the state agriculture department. Brady, jr. on the birth of a son, Robert Bruce, Tuesday night at the Salem General hos pital. The little boy, who weighed eight pounds, is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Brady and Fred S. Anunsen. His great-grandfather is M. S. Barker of Eugene. The baby has an older sister, Mi chael Jeanne, who is now in Port land with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Siddoway, for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. John R. Hay are receiving congratulations on - the birth of a daughter, Nancy Eliza beth, on April 4 at the Salem Gen eral hospital. The little girl weigh ed six pounds, fifteen and a half ounces. Mrs. Hay will be remem bered as Dorothy Hardie and grandparents of the baby are Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hardie and Judge and Mrs. Arthur D. Hay. Festival Set For Friday The Marion county homemak er's festival is set to open at 10 o' clock on Friday morning at the First Methodist church. The festi val reviews the year's work of the Marion county home extension de partment and recognizes outstand ing work done by the units. Morning speaker is Miss Joy Hills who will talk on "John Says" at 1125. Luncheon will be served st noon snd Dan W. Poling, dean of men at Oregon State college will speak st X o'clock. Mrs. Clarence Byrd entertalaed members of the Modern Drama class at luncheon Tuesday after noon at her North 14th street home. Miss Price Enaaged Miss Marjorie Price has joined the ranks of brides-elect with an nouncement of her engagement to James R. Zigler. son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Zigler of West Unity. Ohio. No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Price, the daughter of Mrs. Wayne Price, is a graduate of Sa lem schools and attended Willam ette university, where she was a member of Beta Chi sorority. She is now employed at the state tax commission. Her finance attended DePauw university and during the war served in the army. He is now living in Salem and employed at the state industrial accident commission. Christening , On Sunday Elizabeth Ellen Nicholson, nine months old daughter of Mr. snd Mrs. James H. Nicholson, Jr., will be christened at services Sunday afternoon in the chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal church. The cer emony will be performed at 4 o'clock by the Rev. George H. Swift before members of the im mediate family. The little girl will wear a long white dress, which her father wore when he was a baby. Her godparents will be Mr. and Mrs Norman Bav of Portland and her aunt. Mrs. Ruby Misher of Poi -land. A reception for the family will follow at the North Summer street home of Elizabeth's paternal grandmother, Mrs. James H. Nich olson. Her othr grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Rue Drager, will also be present for the occasion. Polk County Meeting The Polk county annual Home maker's festival will be held in Monmouth on Thursday, April 14 at I OOF hall.
