Four Corners Girls Working On. Knapsacks FOUR CORNERS ! Scout troop 42 met Monday after school with 15 members presem. nien work hour was spent making knapsacks. Next week 'they will meet in the homes of "their lead ers. Half of them will meet with Mrs. J. Earl Cook and half of them with Mrs. Gerald Wine when they will prepare a dinner to obtain credits towards their cooks badge. Carol Hoffman, a member of the troop won three cups at the doe show held at the I fair grounds. Her sister Peggy Hoffman, also a member of troop 42 won a second place ribbon at the dog show in the child's handl ing class. ; : Mr. and ) Mrs. Roy Case who were living in the Albert- Som mer cottage moved this week and Mr. and Mjrs. Wayne Shaffer and small daughter, born March . 22, moved from Salem into the Som mer cottage on E. State street. The Teen Kanteen will meet Friday April 8 at 7:30 p. m. in the Four Corners Community HalL CLUB MEETING FRIDAY SILVERTON, April 6 Waldo Hills Community club will meet Friday night, April 8, at 7 p. m. The no-host dinner meeting will be followed by a program in charge of Robert Barnes. Women Will Model Clothes LIBERTY-SALEM HEIGHTS The last lesson of the cotton dress work shop was held Thursday at the cannery lunch room. The dresses will be modeled at the Homemakers Spring Festival on April 8 at the First Methodist church. Modeling dresses will be Mrs. Harold Lane and Mrs. Charles Krauger, who were the project leaders, and Mrs. Wayne Sipe, Mrs. Mervin Seeger, Mrs. Wil bert Kurth, Mrs. I. W. HalL Mrs. Clay Taylor, Mrs. Ray Crittendon, Mrs. Clark letnin, Mrs. Helen Orabenhorst, Mrs. Wayne Blaco and Mrs. Lyle Bayne. Carter of Detroit as president for the next two years. There were 122 new members present for the meeting, making a total of 867 members in all, with 303 visitors also present. Mrs. Loria Worthington reported Johnny Myers, Bill Wiant, Miss Velma Barendse and Miss Thelma Loop. that the club treasury new has $18,447. It was decided that this fund be used to purchase land suitable for iarming, that the club may become a self - supporting colony in the near future. If this should be accomplished each member will have a home free of all charges in the colony. It was decided that the first an nual picnic would be held at the Berry forest camp near Detroit, Saturday, May 14, and would be held over the following Sunday. SUNDAY MEETINGS SET LIBERTY The Liberty Church of Christ Sunday school will be gin at 9:43 on April 10 and on Easter morning, April 17. The Easter program will be put on by the Sunday school classes. April 7 194S 8 Valley Obituaries Wilbur Martin LYONS Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from Lyons Methodist church for Wilbur Mar tin, SO, who died Friday at Sale t hospital. Martin had spent most of bis life in this community. He is sur vived by one brother, Alfred Mar tin of Albany; a nephew, Roland Martin of Portland; aunt, Mrs. Al bert Ring of Lyons, and cousin, Mrs. Don Brotherton of Lyons.
