Newberg Scene of Next Meeting Nearly a hundred were in Sa lem for the 15th annual ditnct convention No. -5, Women's Relief Corps with Sedgwick chapter as hostess at the VFW hall. Spring flowers and candles with red, white and blue ribbon bows decorated the tables. Honor guests were Mrs. Percy R. Kelly, worthy high priest ess, 'and Clair P. Davis, watchman of the shepherds. ;; The tables were decorated with Easter baskets and daffodils, with Mrs. W. P. Lessard of Sfcayton in charge. Gifts were presented to the honor guests. A musical pro gram was given :by Mrs, Robert Schroeder and Mrs. Ivan Stewart, who sang, accompanied by Mrs. Larry Flagg. Next regular meeting " will be April 18 when formal installation will be held with an afternoon business session preceding at 4 p. nr. Tart and Good More Rhubdrb Pie Recipes Given to Housewife For Use During Season By Maxlne Buren Statesman Woman's Editor While rhubarb pie has already been discussed in these columns, we have since received recipes for two pastries using rhubarb. The first comes from the test kitchens of a manufacturer ef pie rust mix and is namely simply . RHUBAKB FIE 3 to 4 tablespoons cold water , 4 'cups rhubarb, cut into Vfc-irvch pieces ' 1 f&. slightly beaten 1 tablespoon lemon juice )4 teaspoon grated lemon rind 4 'tablespoons flour teaspoon salt teaspoon nutmeg . . H4 cups sugar ' Combine, rhubarb, egg. lemon Juice and rind. Blend together flour, salt, nutmeg ahd sugar. Add dry ' ingredients to rhubarb mix ture." Turn into pastry-lined 9 . Inch pan. Roll out remaining dough and cut into 4-inch strips for lattice topping. Place . lattice strips over filling; seal ends to bottom crust and flute edge. Bake in hot oven (425 F.y for 10 min utes, then in moderate oven (350 F.) for SO minutes. The second is a recipe for rhu barb raisin tarts with crumble topping and could be made into a larger pie instead of individual tarts: KIIUBARB RAISIN TARTS WITH CRUMBLE TOPPING 3 tablespoons enriched flour teaspoon salt H to k cup sugar IH to 2 cups rhubarb, cut in one " half inch pieces i cup raisins - 3 teaspoons lemon juice Mix flour, salt and, sugar. 'Cprinkle lemon juice over rhu barb and raisins. Art Exhibit Will Remain at Gallery The exhibit in the Elfstrom Gal-!e'- es by the activities group of the Salem Art Association will remain until the end of the week according to Mrs. Karl Becke and Mrs. H. G. Maison, managers -f the galleries. In connection with the exhibit in the print gallery is a loan exhibit of lithographs by modern and contemporary artists from the Associated American Ar tists Corporation.
