The Statesman j - The era of -handle-bar mustaches, swinging doors.'l picture hats - and hay rides in the moonlight took over for a few hours here last night at the second annual barbershop quartet singing jamboree con test, i tt The Agony Four, of Oregon State, college took first place with a Stirring rendition of a medley of Gay. Ninety tunes. "poney Island Washboard." "Mobile Bay" and Take Back Your Ring" put a packed Leslie junior high school auditorium audience in mind of yesteryear harmonizing. Second place went to the San tiam Barberetts, a pert foursome from Mill City, who struck a tear ful note for the "Beauty Shop Quartet." They followed this "with a gripping rendition of "Take Baclf , Your Gold." They were decked out in long skirts, peek-a-boo blouses and barndoor hats, la Fancy Vests The Chord Busters of Newberg. complete in fancy vests, mustaches and bowlers were awarded third 'ace. It was the sec ond theft from the 3057 Portland rd. night spot in three months. Police said the burglar appar ently entered through an unlock ed ladies' rest room window, then carved a hole through an upstairs office door with a kitchen knife. Pattern of the theft was similar to the case last January 9 when thieves relieved the club of $770 in cash, police said. The theft was discovered by H. C.
