Catering Department Is Store Feature A catering deparffintnt is some thing brand new for a grocery tore but it's an intrinsic part of the new Berg business. Managed by Mrs. Myrtle Liu dahl, a resident of Salem for 12 years and operator of her own catering service for three of them, the department includes a stain less steel kitchen equipped with 11 modern conveniences. There is a three-deck oven thermostat ically controlled, and also a salad cutting machine to provide fresh shredded vegetables daily. Chicken pies, all manner of sal ads, special cakes and smorgas borg dishes will be specialties, and there will be a special fresh salad nix every day. The delicatessen feature of the tore won't be limited to the large department therein, however there is a direct catering service for homes. Personnel and food will JOINS REALTY FIRM SILVERTON H. . ' ' s Site Cleared For Church At Woodhurn WOODBURN Work is pro gressing on clearing the site of the new Woodburn Methodist church. Forms for the foundation of the new building were poured Monday. At present, Sunday school and church services are held in the high school auditorium. The new church will be 60 by 85 feet, L-shaped and constructed of tile with a brick veneer fin ish. The main auditorium will be 32 feet wide and 50 feet long, in cluding the platform and will run north and south along the east side of the property. A dining room separated from the audi torium by folding doors and a kitchen will take up the remain der of the 85 feet at the south end of the structure. Sunday school rooms will be located in a 28 by 38 foot two story wing running west to B street. The primary Sunday school assembly room on the first floor may be opened into the dining Lroom by folding doors. Plans also Pcall for a bell tower at the L of the building. Much volunteer work has been used in the razing of the base ment of the old church wihch had been roofed over for services fol lowing the fire last April which destroyed the 57-year old church. Authorities hope that it will be possible to hold services in the new church by July 1 even thouqh construction will not be finished by that time. Women's Circle To Send Hospital Supplies to Africa AMITY--March meeting of the Baptist Women's Missionary circle was held at the home of Mrs. An drew Wakeman, with Mrs. Ed ward Lehman presiding. Plans were completed for sending hospi tal supplies to the Belgian Congo. Annual Spring rally for Central Willamette association will be at the Calvary Baptist church in Sa lem, April 18. Mrs. Andrew Wake man and Mrs. Al Newby were appointed to serve on the com mittee for United Council of Church Women for Amity. Mrs. Newby and Mrs. Wakeman were in charge of the lesson. Mrs. Cora Newman, Miss Lois Newman, Mr. and Mrs. John Gibh and Mrs. VernKhia Newby at tended Rebekah lodge at Dayton Friday night. Space for 309 Cars Parking space for more than 300 cars is provided at the new Berg market on Center street. The park ing is arranged so that all cars are easily accessible no matter how busy the space may be. The park ing is just west of the main en trance to the store.
